EA SPORTS FC 27 crashing or closing on PC: causes and solutions

Tutorial

Does EA SPORTS FC 27 (often searched for as "FIFA 27") close suddenly on your PC, drop you back to the Windows desktop or freeze during a match? This guide starts from what you observe to isolate the cause, based on EA's support pages and graphics driver release notes. One point should be checked first if your laptop or desktop uses the built-in graphics of an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor: Intel lists a known FC 27 crash on those platforms.

If you play on PS5 or Xbox Series, see EA SPORTS FC 27 crashing or freezing on PS5 or Xbox Series: causes and solutions instead.

Problem

  • The game closes and sends you back to the desktop, at launch or during a game.
  • The picture freezes and the game stops responding.
  • The crash always happens at the same moment (menu, match, specific mode) or, on the contrary, at random.
  • The PC uses an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor without a dedicated graphics card, or the game runs on the built-in graphics.

Observe before acting

Write down these three things, they guide the next steps:

Also check that your PC meets at least the minimum configuration published by EA: EA SPORTS FC 27 PC requirements.

Step 1: PC with an Intel Core Ultra Series 2

When to use it: your processor is an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 and FC 27 is displayed by the built-in Intel Arc graphics.

In the release notes of its graphics driver 32.0.101.9150 WHQL (October 12, 2026), Intel lists among the known issues: "EA SPORTS FC 27 (DX12) may experience an application crash on certain series 2 platforms", meaning FC 27 may crash on some Core Ultra Series 2 platforms with built-in Intel Arc graphics. Intel does not publish a workaround for this issue. On November 2, 2026, Intel's download page still offers this 101.9150 driver as the latest version.

Suggested solution

  1. Open
Settings > System > About

and read the Processor line. Compare the model with the product list on Intel's download page (Sources section) to find out whether it is a Core Ultra Series 2.

  1. If your PC also has a dedicated NVIDIA or AMD graphics card, make sure FC 27 uses it: open
Settings > System > Display > Graphics

, select the game (or add its .exe file), then choose High performance. Fully restart the game.

  1. If the PC only has the built-in graphics, check the Intel Arc Graphics - Windows page to see whether a driver newer than 101.9150 has been released, then read its release notes: only rely on it if it states that the FC 27 issue is fixed.
  2. Intel states that its generic driver replaces the customized driver from your laptop's manufacturer. On a laptop, first check whether the manufacturer offers a graphics update on its support site.

Expected result: with the dedicated card, the game no longer runs on the Intel graphics and the known crash no longer applies. With only the built-in graphics, you need to wait for an Intel driver that announces the fix: the following steps can help if the crash has another cause, but they do not fix a driver issue.

Step 2: update the graphics driver

When to use it: your PC is not affected by step 1, or the driver has not been updated for a long time.

Suggested solution

  1. Install the latest driver from your graphics card manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD or Intel), or from your laptop manufacturer's website.
  2. Restart the PC, then launch FC 27 again.

Expected result: the crash goes away if it came from an old driver. EA lists updating the graphics driver among its PC troubleshooting steps.

If the screen goes black after the driver update: follow the guide Black screen after a graphics driver update (French guide).

Step 3: repair the game files

When to use it: the game always crashes at the same point, or after a game update.

Suggested solution

  1. EA app: open the
Library

, find EA SPORTS FC 27, select the Manage icon, then Repair.

  1. Steam: right-click the game in your library,
Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files

.

  1. Launch the game again once the check is complete.

Expected result: damaged or missing files are downloaded again and the game launches normally.

Step 4: delete the game's corrupt files

When to use it: the game freezes in certain menus or modes, or comes with graphical bugs or disconnections.

EA explains that files downloaded in the background by the game can become corrupt and cause freezes. The procedure (Customise > Profile > Delete menu, keeping the Career files) is detailed in Bugs and disconnections in EA SPORTS FC 27: delete the game's corrupt files. Never delete files with "Career" in their name: they cannot be restored.

Expected result: the files are downloaded again at the next launch and the freezes caused by these files go away.

Step 5: rule out background software

When to use it: the crash happens at random, or since you installed new software (overlay, recording tool, tuning utility).

Suggested solution

  1. Close software that displays something over the game or records the screen.
  2. If the crash continues, perform a clean boot of Windows by following the Microsoft page listed in the sources: only Microsoft services start.
  3. Launch FC 27 again. If it no longer crashes, re-enable programs one by one to find the one causing the problem.
  4. Once the test is over, go back to a normal startup by following the same Microsoft page.

Expected result: if the game is stable after a clean boot, the culprit is a program launched at startup, which you can then identify.

Step 6: cap the frame rate

When to use it: the game freezes or crashes mainly during matches, when the graphics card is under heavy load.

Suggested solution

  1. In FC 27's graphics settings, lower the target frame rate (for example from 60 to 30 frames per second) or turn on Vertical Sync (V-Sync).
  2. If needed, lower the graphics quality or the resolution.

Expected result: the graphics card is under less load. EA suggests this setting in its guide on crashes and freezes.

If nothing works, EA then recommends reinstalling the game and the EA app.

Final check

  • ☐ You know whether your processor is an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 and which graphics the game uses.
  • ☐ The graphics driver is up to date.
  • ☐ The game files have been repaired in the EA app or verified in Steam.
  • ☐ The game has been tested after a clean boot, then Windows has been set back to normal startup.
  • ☐ The frame rate is capped if the crash happens during matches.
