Removing an Evolution from a Player in EA SPORTS FC 27: effects and limits

Tutorial

In Ultimate Team™ in EA SPORTS FC 27 (sometimes searched for as "FIFA 27"), a Player submitted to an Evolution becomes untradeable, and can't be discarded or used in an SBC while the Evolution is in progress. EA Help describes a feature to remove the last Evolution or all Evolutions from a Player Item. This guide explains when to use it, what it undoes and what it doesn't give back.

The explanations follow EA's Help article shared across EA SPORTS FC (updated about two weeks before the date it was checked). Labels quoted are those of that article; they may differ slightly in-game.

Problem

  • A Player became untradeable after entering an Evolution.
  • The Player can't be submitted into an SBC or discarded.
  • An applied Evolution no longer suits you (stats, PlayStyle, Chemistry).

First: identify your situation

SituationWhat EA saysBranch
Standard Evolution in progressPlayer untradeable, no SBC and no discarding during the EvolutionFinish or remove the Evolution (Step 2)
Standard Evolution completedA fully upgraded Player can be used in SBCsStep 1 if you only want to use the Player
Training Camp EvolutionPlayer unavailable for a set time; can be cancelledStep 3
Player tradeable againOnly if tradeable before any Evolution, after removing all its EvolutionsStep 2

Step 1: finish the Evolution if you can

When to use it: the Evolution suits you, but you want to use the Player again (SBC, new Evolution).

Suggested solution

  1. Open Ultimate Team™, the Club tab, then Evolutions.
  2. Select My Evolutions and make sure the Evolution is set to Active: this is required to make progress toward its Objectives.
  3. Complete the challenges, then claim your upgrades.

Watch the two possible time limits shown in-game: Get Within X Days (time to activate the slot) and Expires In X Days (time to complete it). If the second one runs out, you keep the completed levels, not the incomplete ones.

Expected result: the Evolution is complete; the Player can then be used in an SBC.

Step 2: remove the last Evolution or all Evolutions

When to use it: you no longer want the upgrade, or you want the Player to be tradeable again.

According to EA, removing an Evolution is final and can't be undone.

Suggested solution

  1. Open the Player Item's action menu.
  2. Choose to remove the last Evolution or all Evolutions.
  3. View the downgrade details: they show which upgrades will be removed and the effect on stats. If you only remove the last one, the game shows which Evolution it is before you confirm.
  4. Hold the confirmation control.
  5. The Player is sent to your Club. If it was in your Squad, add it to your Squad again.

Expected result: the removed upgrades no longer show on the card. If the Player was tradeable before any Evolution and you removed all its Evolutions, it becomes tradeable again.

Good to know: EA's article doesn't mention any refund of FC Points or Coins spent to unlock a standard Evolution that you remove. For a paid slot, EA also states that payment gives you one entry.

Step 3: cancel a Training Camp Evolution

When to use it: the Player is tied up in a Training Camp Evolution (from a few hours to more than 30 days, according to EA).

Suggested solution

  1. You can cancel a Training Camp Evolution.
  2. If you cancel, you get no unearned upgrades, no rewards for the remaining levels, and the FC Points or Ultimate Team™ Coins used to access it are not returned.

Expected result: the Player is available again, without the upgrades not yet earned.

Avoid tying up the wrong Player

Before submitting a Player, use Preview Evolution: select the Evolution, then a Player, then Preview Evolution. You can chain several previews; the list of Evolutions is then filtered using the resulting stats. When a level offers several rewards, your choice is only locked when you complete that level and claim its rewards.

Final check

  • ☐ The Evolution type (standard or Training Camp) is identified.
  • ☐ The downgrade details were read before confirming.
  • ☐ After removal, the Player was put back in the Squad if needed.
  • ☐ To make a Player tradeable again: all its Evolutions were removed and it was tradeable before.
