In EA SPORTS FC 27 Ultimate Team (sometimes searched for as "FIFA 27"), some Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) work differently: these are Simplified SBCs. Instead of building an 11-player squad, you submit Player Items until you reach an Item Score. This system catches many players out: cards disappear from the club even though the reward hasn't been earned yet. Here is how it works, according to EA Help.
Problem
- Players disappeared from your club after a submission to an SBC, with no reward.
- The Challenge shows partial progress (for example 75%) but remains incomplete.
- An SBC expired before you finished it and you don't know what you received.
- You want to recover players submitted by mistake.
How a Simplified SBC works

Puzzle SBCs (the classic format with squad rating, chemistry, leagues, nations, clubs) still exist in FC 27.
Step 1: check the Challenge progress
When to use it: players disappeared and the reward hasn't arrived.
Suggested solution
- Go to SBCs and open the Simplified SBC concerned.
- Look at the Challenge progress: it shows the Item Score already submitted and what is still missing.
Expected result: if progress is incomplete, your players were counted, but the Challenge isn't finished. This is normal behaviour: the main reward is only granted once the required score is reached.
Step 2: finish the Challenge without wasting players
When to use it: you still need some Item Score before the expiry date.
Suggested solution
- Note the Item Score still missing shown in the progress.
- Choose eligible Player Items and check how much each one contributes toward the required score.
- Avoid high-value players if less valuable Items are enough: EA recommends checking the missing score before choosing high-value Items.
- If a warning says the selection greatly exceeds the required score, review your selection before confirming.
- Submit.
Expected result: the Challenge is complete and the main reward is granted.
Step 3: SBC expired before completion
When to use it: the Challenge expired after you had already submitted players.
Suggested solution
Submitted players don't return to the club. However, EA states that you may get a reduced untradeable reward, based on the Item Score submitted before expiry:

- Check your packs and pending items in Ultimate Team.
Expected result: the partial reward matching your score appears in your club. The EA article doesn't say exactly where or when it is delivered after expiry.
Special cases
- Player submitted by mistake: the submission is final. EA Advisors can't restore submitted players, whether in a Simplified SBC or a Puzzle SBC.

- Before each submission, EA advises checking the available reward, the Challenge expiry date and each player being exchanged.
To avoid this problem in the future
Only submit players to a Simplified SBC if you're sure you can reach the required score before it expires, or if the partial reward in the table is acceptable to you.

- ☐ The missing Item Score is known before adding players.
- ☐ The SBC expiry date has been checked.
- ☐ Packs received after an expiry have been looked for.
