Counter-Strike 2 update (November 5, 2026): Retakes instant bomb defuse and shorter round delays
Valve’s CS2 Steam announcement speeds up Retakes: bomb defuse finishes instantly when enough round time remains and no active utility can stop it, with reduced freeze time and round restart delay.
Consulted November 5, 2026 (Europe/Paris). Valve posted a Counter-Strike 2 update on Steam (community announcement gid 1848557880481353, timestamp November 5, 2026, 00:54 UTC / 01:54 Paris). The player-facing changes focus on Retakes.
Retakes gameplay
- Bomb defusal in Retakes now finishes instantly when there is sufficient time remaining in the round and no active utility remains that can prevent the defuse.
- Freeze time and the round restart delay in Retakes are reduced.
- Pinging pet chickens during freeze time requests a trick from them.
- Pet chicken names are hidden when the customized item text game option is set to hidden.
Valve does not publish numeric freeze-time values in this changelog, so TricknFix does not invent timings.
Map scripting (workshop / tools)
The same update expands the map-scripting surface: `Instance.Precache` can accept entities; a top-level Entities export adds Spawn, find/fire helpers, and bot-control hooks (`OnBotControl`, `IsControllingBot`, `GetControlledBotPawn`, `CSPlayerPawn.Reset`). Several older `Instance.*` helpers are moved or renamed and left available but deprecated. Calling a method on an invalid (removed) Entity now reports that the Entity is invalid; `ConnectOutput` warns when the named output is missing.
