Microsoft’s KB5127936 (October 28, 2026 preview; builds 26300.9818 / 26200.9818 for Windows 11 26H2 / 25H2) lists a normal-rollout [Windows PowerShell] item: the update adds version 5.1 to the names of Windows PowerShell and Windows PowerShell Integrated Scripting Environment (ISE). On existing devices, some Start menu shortcuts might retain their previous names after you install this update.
The Microsoft Support page “Windows PowerShell shortcut names are being updated to include version 5.1” adds that, depending on your Windows version, a 2026 update adds version information to the labels; an older shortcut name alone does not mean the update failed; an optional recreation of two user-profile console shortcuts (Windows PowerShell → Windows PowerShell 5.1, and (x86)) is documented; you do not need to recreate the Windows PowerShell ISE shortcuts per that page. Attribute naming details to that page + the KB bullet.
The same KB notes that Windows 11 24H2 no longer receives non-security preview updates starting with the October 2026 release — so this optional preview track is about 25H2 / 26H2 (the Support page also mentions other platforms/security-path timing for 24H2 / LTSC; do not mix channels). Typical optional path: Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates. On a managed PC, ask IT before installing an optional preview.
No hands-on rename lab, no invented inventory of every system shortcut: brief topic + discussion question. This is not a second Device Info / Settings Home article, nor Phone Link (lot28), nor Unicode (topic 439).

Question: after KB5127936 (or an equivalent preview), do you already see Windows PowerShell 5.1 / ISE 5.1 in Start — or did some shortcuts keep the old name on your PC?
