Step 1: install the latest updates
When to use it: always first.
Suggested solution
- Check that the console's system software is up to date.
- Check that EA SPORTS FC 27 is up to date (no update pending or downloading).
Expected result: the console and the game are up to date; relaunch the game to check.
Step 2: unplug USB devices and restart
When to use it: the game still crashes after updating.
Suggested solution
- Unplug all devices connected via USB (except what you need to play).
- Restart the console.
- If the problem continues, perform a power cycle: turn the console fully off (not rest mode), wait about one minute, then turn it back on and launch the game.
Expected result: the game launches and stays stable.
Step 3: reinstall the game, preferably on internal storage

Step 4 (PS5): restore licenses
When to use it: on PS5, the game crashes or shows a padlock.

- Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.
- Select the licenses you want to restore.
What to look for: Sony states that restoring licenses won't affect your data, and recommends it in particular when a game crashes or shows a padlock icon.
Expected result: the EA SPORTS FC 27 license is recognized and the game launches.
Step 4 (Xbox Series X|S): clear the alternate MAC address
When to use it: on Xbox, the game still crashes after the previous steps.
Suggested solution
- Open Settings, then General.
- Go to Network settings, then Advanced settings.
- Select Alternate MAC address, then Clear.
- Restart the Xbox.
Expected result: the console restarts with its default network settings; launch the game again.
Special cases
- Local saved data (Xbox): EA lists deleting it as a very last resort. It can erase saves, including Career saves: only do it after checking what you might lose.
