Transfer rejected or stuck in EA SPORTS FC 27 Manager Career: staged negotiations

English translation of the original French post. Code, commands, paths and error codes keep their original meaning. Replies and moderation are shared in the original discussion.

In EA SPORTS FC 27 (often searched for as "FIFA 27"), Manager Career transfers are no longer settled in a single conversation. An offer can stay unanswered, be rejected, or go back to negotiation after an agreement. This guide summarises what EA states in its official notes, so you can see at which stage your transfer is stuck and what to change.

Problem

  • Your enquiry about a player stays "pending" or ends without any negotiation.
  • The selling club or the player rejects your offer.
  • An agreed deal goes back to negotiation with new demands.
  • A rival or neighbouring club consistently refuses to do business with you.
  • Players you put on the transfer or loan list receive few offers.

What to know before acting

  • Staged transfers: EA states that transfers now progress over time, through several stages, with a varying delay between each one.
  • Everything starts with an enquiry: for a purchase, a loan, a free agent or a player nearing the end of their contract, you first need to gauge interest from the club or player. After a short wait, the response opens negotiations or ends your pursuit.
  • Parallel negotiations: once permission is granted, talks between the buying club, selling club and player take place in parallel.
  • An agreement is not final: interest from other clubs can lead to new demands from the club or player, even after an agreement.
  • Version 1.1: EA's notes of 26/10/2026 announce distinct negotiation responses that explain why a club or player rejected your offer. Check that your game is up to date.
  • In-game names: the terms used here come from EA's English article. Labels shown in localised versions of the game may differ.

Step 1: find the stage where the transfer is stuck

When to use it: you do not know where your offer stands.

Suggested solution

  1. Open the Transfer Hub: EA states it is now split into two areas, Scouting and Transfers.
  2. In Transfers, open the Active Negotiations area, which groups incoming transfers, outgoing transfers and contract renewals.
  3. Read the status shown for each deal: EA says every deal clearly communicates its current status and the action required.
  4. Check the player's Interest indicator, which gives an idea of how willing they are to join your club.

Expected result: you know whether you are waiting for a response to your enquiry, whether negotiations are open, or whether a new demand has appeared.

When to stop: if the deal is just waiting for a response, let time advance: EA states the delay between stages varies depending on the negotiation.

Step 2: understand why the offer is rejected

When to use it: the club or player refuses.

Suggested solution

  1. After update 1.1, read the negotiation response: EA states it now clarifies why the offer was rejected.
  2. During talks, watch the tension meter: it shows in real time how close both sides are to an agreement or to talks breaking down.
  3. Take into account what the player weighs according to EA: relative stature of both clubs, attractiveness of the league, overall rating, career stage, current wages, remaining contract length, continental competitions and, sometimes, a return to their home country.
  4. If talks are not progressing, EA states you can walk away at any point to focus on another target.

Expected result: you know which element to adjust (fee, wages, role, length) or whether it is better to give up.

Step 3: restructure the offer

When to use it: the refusal concerns the amount or the terms.

Suggested solution

  1. Timing: choose whether the deal takes effect immediately, in the next transfer window or at the start of the following season. A loan-back lets the player stay at their current club for a period.
  2. Player exchange: include a member of your squad to reduce the cash required.
  3. Installments and bonuses: spread the fee over several seasons or add bonuses tied to achievements or performance. These future payments weigh on your finances in the following seasons.
  4. Clauses: buyback, first refusal or sell-on clauses.
  5. Player contract: adjust wages, length, sign-on fee, agent fee and squad role. EA warns that the promised role creates playing-time expectations. Since 1.1, performance bonuses are taken into account to avoid inflated base wages, and veteran players no longer disproportionately demand a crucial role.

Expected result: the rebalanced offer restarts the negotiation.

Rollback: as long as the transfer is not finalised, you can walk away. After signing, installments, bonuses and clauses remain due.

Step 4: handle new demands and delegation

When to use it: an agreement goes back to negotiation, or you are short on time.

Suggested solution

  1. If a rival club is interested in the same player, expect new demands: return to the negotiating table to complete the deal.
  2. For a sale, EA states that after the clubs agree, you get one final opportunity to revisit the deal; its success depends notably on interest from other clubs.
  3. You can also delegate the negotiation to your Director of Football.

Expected result: the transfer is completed, or you know it is better to move to another target.

Special cases

SituationWhat EA states
Historic rival or neighbouring clubClubs with a historic rivalry or a local derby are far less willing to do business together. Regional rivalries and regular competitors for honours also play a role, less strongly.
Clubs in the same ownership groupClubs in the same multi-club ownership network are more inclined to do business together.
Player who recently joined their clubThey are far less likely to move again immediately.
Listed players receiving few offersIn its 29/09/2026 update, EA says it has seen this feedback and is working on balancing changes.
