The Grounds missing in EA SPORTS FC 27 on PS4 or Xbox One: the free upgrade

English translation of the original French post. Code, commands, paths and error codes keep their original meaning. Replies and moderation are shared in the original discussion.

On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, EA SPORTS FC 27 (sometimes searched for as "FIFA 27") does not include The Grounds. This is not an installation bug: EA reserves this content for current-generation platforms. If you bought the game on PS4 or Xbox One and have a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, Dual Entitlement lets you upgrade to the current-generation version at no extra cost. This guide explains what transfers and what doesn't, according to EA Help.

Problem

  • The Grounds does not appear in the EA SPORTS FC 27 menu on PS4 or Xbox One.
  • You play the PS4 version on a PS5 (or the Xbox One version on an Xbox Series X|S) and The Grounds is still missing.
  • After upgrading, a Career or Online Seasons progress seems to have disappeared.

Which version gives access to what

A common misunderstanding: running the PS4 version on a PS5 (or the Xbox One version on a Series X|S) does not give access to The Grounds. EA states that you need a current-generation console and the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version of the game.

Step 1: check which version is installed

When to use it: The Grounds is missing even though you play on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.

Suggested solution

  1. In the console library, check which version of EA SPORTS FC 27 is installed (PS4 or PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S).
  2. If it is the previous-generation version, go to step 2.

Expected result: you know whether you are launching the right version.

Step 2: upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version

When to use it: you bought the game on PS4 or Xbox One and own a current-generation console of the same family.

Suggested solution

  1. Check the console family: Dual Entitlement works PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S only. It does not let you move from PlayStation to Xbox, or the other way round.
  2. Physical copy (disc): EA states that you need a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S with a disc drive to upgrade.
  3. Download the current-generation version from your console. EA says that once upgraded, you own both versions and can download either one.
  4. Launch the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version with the same EA Account as before.

Expected result: The Grounds appears in the current-generation version.

What transfers, and what doesn't

According to EA, with the same EA Account:

TransfersDoes not transfer (stays on the original version)
Ultimate Team Club and all Club ItemsCareer Mode
Ultimate Team Coins and FC PointsOnline Seasons
Match record and leaderboard placementCo-Op Seasons

If a Career seems to have disappeared after upgrading, it is not lost: EA says you keep separate saves for these modes on each generation. Launch the PS4 or Xbox One version again to find it. You can also keep downloading and playing the previous version on your new console, which also lets you play with friends still on that version.

Premium Pass and The Grounds rewards

  • Premium Pass is tied to your EA Account. If you keep playing with the same EA Account in the same console family, it is also available on the upgraded console.
  • Season Pass or Premium Pass rewards earned for The Grounds can be used after upgrading to a current-generation console. To find one, see the guide Season Pass reward missing in EA SPORTS FC 27.

What about PC?

On PC, The Grounds is part of the current-generation content: there is no upgrade to do. However, EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite does not include every mode: see the guide Ultimate Team missing in EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite.

Final check

  • ☐ The PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version of the game is installed and launched.
  • ☐ The same EA Account is used on both versions.
  • ☐ A Career or Online Seasons progress from the old version is found by launching that old version.
