Rivalries in EA SPORTS FC 27 Player Career: objectives and Personality Points

English translation of the original French post. Code, commands, paths and error codes keep their original meaning. Replies and moderation are shared in the original discussion.

In EA SPORTS FC 27 (often searched for as "FIFA 27"), Player Career adds Rivalries against AI-controlled players. Many players do not know why a given rival is assigned to them, what to do to win, or why the reward is sometimes halved. This guide summarises what EA states in its official notes.

Problem

  • A Rivalry appears without you understanding who your rival is or why.
  • You do not know which objective to complete to win the Rivalry.
  • You only received half of the expected Personality Points.
  • A new type of Rivalry objective appeared after update 1.1.

What to know before acting

  • Mode concerned: Rivalries belong to Player Career (you play as a footballer), not Manager Career.
  • Rival selection: EA states your Rival is selected based on your behaviour on the pitch and personal achievements accumulated in your current league. They play in the same or a similar role to yours.
  • Not always a fair fight: EA specifies you may face a better Rival, or be the target of a player trying to step up their game.
  • Varying objectives: the objective types offered depend on your position, personal achievements and the time of the season.
  • In-game names: the terms used here come from EA's English articles. Labels shown in localised versions of the game may differ.

Step 1: identify the Rivalry objective type

When to use it: a Rivalry is under way and you do not know how to win it.

Suggested solution

  1. Read the objective shown for the Rivalry. EA describes two main types:
  2. Performing better than your Rival in an area over upcoming matches. EA's example: whoever gets more assists in the next 5 matches wins.
  3. Reaching an achievement before your opponent. EA's example: whoever is first to score a hat-trick wins.
  4. Since update 1.1 (EA's notes of 26/10/2026), two more types exist: Consistency Rivalries (avoid being the first to fail an objective) and Match Limit Rivalries (complete objectives within a specific time limit).

Expected result: you know which stat or feat counts, and over how many matches.

Step 2: adapt your play to the objective

When to use it: you know the objective.

Suggested solution

  1. For a performance objective (assists, goals…), favour actions that count towards that stat during the stated period.
  2. For a race to a feat, keep in mind that only the first to reach it wins.
  3. For a Consistency Rivalry, avoid taking risks that would make you fail the objective first.
  4. For a Match Limit Rivalry, keep track of the number of matches remaining.

Expected result: the gap with your Rival moves in your favour.

When to stop: if the objective does not match your position or does not progress although you meet the condition, write down the exact objective and your stats, then reply to this topic.

Step 3: collect the Personality Points

When to use it: the Rivalry is coming to an end.

Suggested solution

  1. EA states that defeating Rivals rewards Personality Points, which can be claimed when you are going to win the Rivalry, or when there is going to be a tie.
  2. An inconclusive Rivalry awards half of the default rewards: this is the most likely explanation for a reduced reward.
  3. Personality Points are equally distributed among all types of Personality: they do not go into a single category.

Expected result: the Personality Points appear spread across your Personality types.

Final check

  • ☐ You are in Player Career.
  • ☐ The Rivalry objective type is identified.
  • ☐ The game is up to date (version 1.1 announced by EA on 26/10/2026).
  • ☐ The outcome (win, tie, inconclusive) explains the amount of Personality Points received.
