On the PC version of EA SPORTS FC 27, the borderless display mode can cause several issues: resolution or aspect ratio impossible to change, a frame rate limit no longer respected after switching monitors, graphics settings that do not apply. EA fixed these issues in the v1.1.0 update, released on October 27, 2026. This guide helps you check that the fix is in place and set up the display properly.
What to know before acting
- Bugs acknowledged and fixed: the v1.1.0 notes list, for PC only: being unable to change the resolution or aspect ratio in borderless mode; the frame rate limit not applied in borderless mode after changing the active monitor; some graphics quality settings that required a restart; the Screen Resolution and Estimated VRAM values not updating when resizing the window with the mouse; no revert timer when changing the refresh rate; visual issues when entering matches on ultrawide displays.
- No balance changes: EA states that this update does not change gameplay.
- Labels: the menu and option names used here are taken from the English patch notes. They may differ slightly in the game depending on your language.
- Stuttering and low FPS: if your issue is a lack of smoothness rather than a setting that does not apply, see Stuttering or slow-motion gameplay on EA SPORTS FC 27 PC: causes and solutions.
Step 1: install the v1.1.0 update
When to use it: always first, especially if you have not restarted your launcher since late October.
Expected result: the game is on v1.1.0 or later, with EA's display fixes.
When to stop: if no update is offered, check the EA server status and try again later.
Step 2: change the resolution in borderless mode
When to use it: the resolution or aspect ratio does not change in borderless mode.
Expected result: the chosen resolution and aspect ratio apply in borderless mode.
Rollback: go back to your monitor's native resolution if the image looks blurry or distorted.
Step 3: reapply the frame rate limit after changing monitors
When to use it: you have several monitors and the frame rate limit has not been respected since the game started displaying on another monitor.
Expected result: the frame rate stays capped at the chosen value.
When to stop: if the limit is lost every time you change monitors despite v1.1.0, write down the exact steps and report them (see the end of the guide).
Step 4: restart the game after changing graphics quality
When to use it: a graphics quality setting does not seem to change anything.
Expected result: the setting takes effect. EA states that v1.1.0 removes the need to restart for some settings, but restarting the game is still the simplest way to check.
Step 5: in windowed mode, choose the size in the menu
When to use it: you play in windowed mode and the resolution or estimated VRAM values do not match the window.
Expected result: the displayed resolution and estimated VRAM match the window.
Step 6: change the refresh rate while keeping a way back
When to use it: you want to switch to another refresh rate (for example from 60 to 144 Hz) in the game.
Expected result: the new refresh rate is applied, or the old one is restored automatically.
When to stop: EA does not state how long the timer lasts. If nothing comes back, quit the game and set the monitor's refresh rate in Windows.
Special cases
| Situation | What to know |
|---|---|
| Ultrawide monitor | EA fixed visual issues when entering matches on these displays in v1.1.0. |
| Same issue on console | EA marks these fixes as "PC only". On console, the cause is different. |
| Controller badly detected on PC | The v1.1.0 notes also mention the detection of some controllers, with ambiguous wording. Update the game before any other change. |
Final check
- ☐ The game is on v1.1.0 or later.
- ☐ The resolution and aspect ratio stay applied in borderless mode.
- ☐ The frame rate limit is respected on the gaming monitor.
- ☐ The game was restarted after the graphics quality changes.
