This guide covers GTA Online on PC when your character, your money (GTA$) or your assets don't appear in GTA V Enhanced. GTA V Legacy (the original PC version) and GTA V Enhanced use separate Online profiles. To get your progress back in Enhanced, you need to start the profile migration from Enhanced. A wrong choice at the end of this migration can overwrite a character slot, hence the precautions below.
For Story Mode progress, the procedure is different: see the guide GTA V Legacy save missing from GTA V Enhanced on PC: how to transfer it.
Before you start: the rules set by Rockstar
According to Rockstar support (article updated February 27, 2025):
- Migration works only within PC: no transfer from PC to console, or from console to PC.
- Your profile and progress are kept in Legacy after the migration. Afterwards, progress is no longer synced between the two versions.
- Some profiles are not eligible, for example in case of account suspension or ban, or illegitimate or insufficient progress.
- Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack benefits in Enhanced can only be accessed by the character that claimed them in Legacy and was then migrated.
- While the migration is underway, you can't enter GTA Online in either Legacy or Enhanced.
Use the same Rockstar Games account in Legacy and Enhanced, launched from the same store (Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam or Epic Games). The menus below use the English labels documented by Rockstar.
Step 1: start the migration from GTA V Enhanced
When to use it: to transfer your profile. Choose the method that matches your situation.
Step 2: if the migration takes a long time
When to use it: if the migration screen stays up for a long time.
Step 3: choose the right character at the end
When to use it: at the end of the migration, on the Review Character screen.
Warning: on the Review Character screen, don't choose a new character if you want to keep the one you just migrated. Rockstar states that this choice overwrites the existing slot.
If the profile is not offered or the migration fails
- Check that the same Rockstar Games account is signed in for both versions.
- If you have already played GTA Online in Enhanced, use the Pause Menu (step 1, second method): the Landing Page no longer offers the migration in that case.
- If the account has been suspended or banned, or if the progress is considered insufficient, Rockstar states that the profile may not be eligible. Only Rockstar Games support can check an account's eligibility.
Special cases
- Player-created missions (UGC): Rockstar explains that missions you created are shared between the two profiles. A change made in Legacy appears in Enhanced, but a mission created or edited in Enhanced is not available in Legacy. See the Rockstar article Impact to Player-Created Missions and Mission Ratings after migrating Online Profile progress.
- Going back to Legacy: your Legacy profile remains playable, but what you earn afterwards in one version doesn't appear in the other.
Final check
- ☐ The same Rockstar Games account is signed in for Legacy and Enhanced.
- ☐ The migration ended with a confirmation message.
- ☐ The migrated character was chosen on the Review Character screen.
- ☐ Your money, vehicles and properties appear in GTA Online on Enhanced.
