Since Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.5 ("Edgerunners 2 Update", released on October 22, 2026), the FSR 3 option no longer appears in the upscaling settings on PC? This is not a bug: CD PROJEKT RED removed FSR 3 upscaling and kept only FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation. This guide helps you choose the option that replaces FSR 3 for your graphics card, understand why FSR 4 may be missing, and react if the game crashes with a Radeon RX 9000 series card.
What to know before acting
- The official change: the update 2.5 notes state: "FSR 3 upscaling is no longer included, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4, and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain available". The same update adds a toggle for FSR Anti-Lag 2 in the settings, and support for DLSS 4.5 for the relevant NVIDIA cards.
- Only FSR 3 upscaling is gone: FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remains available. Since update 2.3, CD PROJEKT RED states that it can be used in combination with any upscaler.
- FSR 4 depends on the driver: as early as update 2.3, CD PROJEKT RED stated that the FSR 4 option "will not be available in the in-game settings until the supporting AMD driver is installed". AMD now calls FSR 4 AMD FSR Upscaling.
- Compatible cards, according to AMD: FSR Upscaling on Radeon RX 9000 series (Adrenalin 25.12.1 or later) and, for upscaling only, on Radeon RX 6000 and 7000 series (Adrenalin 26.10.1 or later). Cyberpunk 2077 appears in AMD's official list of supported games. CD PROJEKT RED does not publish its own list of cards that see the FSR 4 option in the game.
- Labels: CD PROJEKT RED's notes use "Graphics settings", "Resolution Scaling" and "Frame Generation". The in-game labels may differ slightly depending on the language.
Step 1: identify your graphics card and its driver
When to use it: always, first.
Expected result: you know your card's manufacturer and series, and your AMD driver version if you have one.
Step 2: choose the option that replaces FSR 3
When to use it: you were using FSR 3 before update 2.5.
| Your card | Options to try (based on CD PROJEKT RED and AMD) |
|---|---|
| Radeon RX 9000 series | FSR 4 (with driver 25.12.1 or later) |
| Radeon RX 6000 or 7000 series | FSR 4, if the option appears with driver 26.10.1 or later; otherwise FSR 2.1 |
| Older Radeon | FSR 2.1 (AMD lists FSR 2 compatibility from the Radeon RX 590) |
| GeForce RTX | DLSS, or FSR 2.1 |
| Intel card or other card | XeSS (XeSS 2.0 since update 2.3) or FSR 2.1 |
Expected result: an upscaling method is active and performance is close to what you had before.
Rollback: you can change method at any time in the same menu. FSR 3 can no longer be selected.
When to stop: if the FSR 4 option is missing even though your card is compatible, go to step 3.
Step 3: make FSR 4 appear on a compatible Radeon
When to use it: you have a Radeon RX 6000, 7000 or 9000 series card, but the FSR 4 option does not appear in the game.
Expected result: FSR 4 appears among the available methods.
Rollback: to return to a previous driver version, AMD recommends using AMD Cleanup Utility before reinstalling the older version.
When to stop: if the option is still missing with a recent enough driver on an RX 6000 or 7000 series card, use FSR 2.1: CD PROJEKT RED does not state whether these cards see the FSR 4 option in the game. For more details on AMD FSR Upscaling, its requirements and driver-based activation, see the guide AMD FSR Upscaling (formerly FSR 4) missing in GTA V Enhanced: Radeon card and driver required, which describes the same AMD requirements for another game.
Step 4: set Frame Generation and Anti-Lag 2
When to use it: you were using FSR Frame Generation with FSR 3 and want to keep it.
Expected result: Frame Generation works with the chosen method (FSR 4, FSR 2.1, DLSS or XeSS), as CD PROJEKT RED has stated since update 2.3.
Rollback: turn off Frame Generation or Anti-Lag 2 in the same menu.
When to stop: with a Radeon RX 9000 series card, if the game crashes when these options are active, see step 5.
Step 5: crashes with a Radeon RX 9000 series card
When to use it: you have a Radeon RX 9000 series card, and the game closes or the driver stops responding during play.
Expected result: the game no longer crashes, at the cost of frame generation (first case), or after updating the driver to 26.10.2 (second case).
Rollback: turn frame generation back on when an AMD driver no longer lists this problem among its known issues.
When to stop: if the crashes continue without a second screen or frame generation, these known issues do not match your case. Note the active settings and the driver version, then reply in this topic.
Special cases
| Situation | What to know |
|---|---|
| You play on Mac | Update 2.5 adds MetalFX Frame Interpolation on Mac. This guide covers AMD options on Windows PCs. |
| Your card has little video memory | The AMD 26.9.1 driver notes point out that Cyberpunk 2077 recommends at least 6 GB of video memory. With a 4 GB Radeon RX 9050, AMD advises lowering or turning off the most demanding graphics features. |
| You use mods | Update 2.5 adds mod support through mod.io. To isolate a display problem, test without mods. |
Final check
- ☐ An upscaling method suited to your card is selected (FSR 4, FSR 2.1, DLSS or XeSS).
- ☐ With a Radeon RX 6000, 7000 or 9000 series card, the AMD driver is recent enough for FSR 4.
- ☐ Frame Generation is set to your preference.
- ☐ With an RX 9000 series card and a video on a second screen, in-game frame generation is disabled if crashes occur.
