Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Rockstar Games. Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026. Many players are only now discovering that the "physical" version contains no disc, or that some bonuses are not included with every version. Here is what Rockstar has officially stated, so you know what you will receive and what to check before launch day.

- A PlayStation code bought from the Rockstar Store is rejected by your account.

Step 1: identify the version you ordered
When to use it: you no longer remember which version you pre-ordered.
Suggested solution
- Open the confirmation email or the order history of the store you used (PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Store or retailer).
- Find the exact product name: Grand Theft Auto VI (Standard Edition) or Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition.
- Find the format: digital (bought from an online store) or physical (box with a code, "Code-in-Box").
Expected result: you know which edition and format you have, which determines the bonuses listed below.

According to Rockstar, the Vintage Vice City Pack includes: the '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and a garage (Shore Court, near Ocean Beach), outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and an exclusive weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's palm tree shirt.
The Ultimate Edition adds, among other things, the '95 Grotti Cheetah, the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers, personalized weapon variants, vehicles for Jason's safehouse, shops and workshops (Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor, One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop, etc.) and a classic car collection.
Step 2: boxed version with no disc
When to use it: you received (or will receive) a box and expected a disc.
Suggested solution
- This is normal: Rockstar states that the physical version contains only a download code. No disc is included.
- You need an Internet connection and a platform account (PlayStation or Xbox) to download the game.
- The code can be used as soon as you receive it. Shipping starts on November 12, 2026, to allow pre-loading before launch.
- Check the free space on your console before using the code.
Expected result: the game appears in your console library and downloads.
Step 3: PlayStation code rejected (Rockstar Store purchase)
When to use it: a code-in-box bought from the Rockstar Store doesn't work with your PlayStation account.
Suggested solution
- According to the Rockstar Store FAQ, PlayStation codes are region-locked:
- Shipped to the United States or Canada: PlayStation accounts from those countries only.
- Shipped to the United Kingdom: UK PlayStation accounts only.
- Other countries served: PlayStation accounts from Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden or Switzerland.
- Check that your PlayStation account's country matches the order's shipping region.
- If it doesn't, contact Rockstar Store support with your order number.
Expected result: the code is accepted by a PlayStation account from the right country.
Step 4: activate the free month of GTA+
When to use it: you pre-ordered the digital version and the GTA+ month is not active.
Suggested solution
The free month applies to digital pre-orders placed on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store before November 20, 2026. It must be activated manually:
PlayStation 5
- Open the PlayStation Store with the account used for the pre-order.
- Go to the GTA+ page and choose Join.
- Can be redeemed until March 31, 2027.
Xbox Series X|S
- Open the Microsoft Store with the account used for the pre-order.
- Go to the Offers & Credits page and choose Redeem on the GTA+ offer.
- Must be redeemed within 180 days of purchasing GTA VI.
Expected result: a message confirms that your free month of GTA+ has started.
The labels "Join", "Offers & Credits" and "Redeem" are those from the English Rockstar Store FAQ; they may be translated on a console set to another language.
Step 5: upgrade from the Standard to the Ultimate Edition
When to use it: you have the Standard Edition and want the Ultimate content.
Suggested solution
- Buy the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition Upgrade. According to the Rockstar Store, this upgrade is offered on the PlayStation Store at any time after purchasing the game.
- For the boxed version, first redeem the Standard Edition code, then buy the upgrade.
- On Xbox, check its availability directly in the Microsoft Store.
Expected result: the Ultimate content is attached to your game.
Special cases
- Not all Ultimate content visible at the start: Rockstar specifies that these bonuses are threaded across Jason and Lucia's story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter.
- Purchase after November 20, 2026: the Vintage Vice City Pack is only guaranteed for pre-orders and purchases made before November 20, 2026.
- Cancelling a Rockstar Store pre-order: the FAQ points to the ordering partner Xsolla (cancellation form). You need the order number and the email address used.
- Shipping: the Rockstar Store ships to France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland, among others. After launch, shipping is estimated at 1 to 7 days depending on the option chosen.
Final check
- ☐ The edition and format (digital or code in box) are identified.
- ☐ The code is used with a PlayStation or Xbox account from the right country.
- ☐ The GTA+ month has been activated (digital pre-order from PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store).
