In EA SPORTS FC 27 Manager Career, a player's overall rating (OVR) can drop during the season with no visible injury and no change to attributes. This is not necessarily a bug: FC 27 introduces Dynamic OVR, a rating that rises and falls with the player's current state. This guide shows how to read the drop, find its cause and respond.
What to know first
According to EA's FC 27 Career Mode development notes:
- Dynamic OVR rests on three pillars: Form, Morale and Match Fitness. Injuries, playing time and competition for places act on these three.
- Form: it moves toward a target OVR based on performances and potential. A rising youngster can gain more than a veteran close to his ceiling.
- Morale: playing time, squad role and expectations affect it. It is more volatile than in previous games.
- Match Fitness: a new indicator of physical condition at kick-off, from "Peak" to "Unfit". It gives no boost; it penalises players who are not ready. The old Training Plan feature was removed, except for the Energy Recovery setting.
- Dynamic OVR breakdowns appear in Team Management, the Squad Hub, Development Plans and Scout Reports.
Step 1: identify the pillar at fault
When to use it: as soon as an OVR drop surprises you.
Expected result: you know whether the drop comes from Form, Morale or physical condition.
Step 2: low Match Fitness, rotate the squad
When to use it: the player is not at "Peak" before the match.
Expected result: Match Fitness recovers and the penalty disappears from Dynamic OVR.
Step 3: falling Morale, review playing time
When to use it: the breakdown shows negative Morale.
Expected result: Morale stabilises, then Dynamic OVR rises again.
If a player asks for a transfer because of playing time, see the guide Unjustified transfer requests in EA SPORTS FC 27 Career Mode.
Step 4: falling Form, adjust position and role
When to use it: Form is the negative pillar, with no fitness or morale issue.
Expected result: Form gradually recovers with performances.
Special cases
- New signing rated lower than at transfer time: the OVR shown during negotiations reflects his form at that moment. A change of club, role or playing time can make it move.
- Generated youngsters rated too high: EA has acknowledged an issue giving some newly generated players a higher starting OVR than expected, and is working on a fix. This is unrelated to a drop.
- Stamina and Dynamic OVR felt as too punishing: EA says it is monitoring both systems closely, with no significant change announced in its launch update. Check the patch notes before changing how you play.
Final check
- ☐ The pillar at fault (Form, Morale or Match Fitness) is identified.
- ☐ Tired or lightly injured players are rested.
- ☐ Playing time matches each player's role.
- ☐ Players are used in one of their preferred positions.
