Do you play Call of Duty: Warzone on PS4 or Xbox One? Activision has announced that the game will no longer be playable on these consoles starting with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1, scheduled for November 6, 2026 (midnight ET, 6:00 a.m. Paris time). Your progression isn't lost: it carries over to PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC, as long as you use the same linked Activision account. Unspent COD Points and some purchases follow different rules. This guide explains what carries over, what stays tied to the console and how to check it.
What to know before you act
- The official timeline: according to Activision's FAQ, Warzone was removed from the PS4 and Xbox One stores on June 4, 2026. The in-game store was then removed on June 25, 2026, the deadline for spending COD Points on these consoles; the free Battle Pass tiers remained available. Finally, the game stops being playable with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1.
- Progression lives on your Activision account: Activision explains that cross-progression games store your progress on the Activision account, not on the PlayStation or Xbox account. Content bought with COD Points is also shared on the Activision account.
- Unspent COD Points stay with the console: they are tied to the platform account. They are only available on the current-gen console in the same family: PS4 to PS5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S, with the same account.
- Real-money purchases: most content bought with local currency (for example bundles) is tied to the platform account. It also only carries over to the current-gen console in the same family.
- Other Call of Duty games aren't affected: Activision states that the other titles released on PS4 and Xbox One remain playable. The change only applies to Warzone.
Step 1: choose your new platform based on what you want to keep
When to use it: before installing Warzone elsewhere.
Expected result: you know which platform to play on and which platform account to sign in with.
When to stop: on PC, Activision's FAQ doesn't provide a way to recover COD Points left on a PS4 or Xbox One. If that balance matters to you, don't pick PC for those points.
Step 2: check which Activision account is linked to your old console
When to use it: always, before playing on the new platform.
Expected result: you know which Activision account holds your Warzone progression.
When to stop: if your PlayStation or Xbox account is linked to a different Activision account than you thought, don't unlink anything yet. Read step 4 first.
Step 3: sign in with the same account on the new platform
When to use it: the linked account has been checked.
Expected result: your level, Operators and content bought with COD Points appear on the new platform.
When to stop: if the ID shown is different, don't keep playing on that account. Go to step 4.
Step 4: fix a platform account linked to the wrong Activision account
When to use it: the new platform shows an empty profile or another Activision ID.
Expected result: the platform account is linked to the Activision account that holds your progression, and it reappears.
Rollback: according to Activision, relinking the platform to the original account restores your progression and content.
When to stop: Activision only allows unlinking a platform account once every 12 months. An unlink request may also be denied if suspicious login attempts are detected, or if the account has an active enforcement. If in doubt, contact Activision support before acting.
Special cases

|---|---|
| COD Points left on PS4 | They are available on PS5 with the same PlayStation account, according to Activision. |
| COD Points left on Xbox One | They are available on Xbox Series X|S with the same Xbox account, according to Activision. |
| You move from PS4 to Xbox Series, or from Xbox One to PS5 | Progression and content bought with COD Points carry over. Unspent COD Points and most real-money purchases stay tied to the old console family. |
| Content bought for another Call of Duty game | According to Activision, it remains available in that game. |

Final check
- ☐ You know which Activision account holds your progression (step 2).
- ☐ On the new platform, the Activision ID shown in the game is the same.
- ☐ Your level and Operators appear.
- ☐ If you had unspent COD Points, you're playing on the current-gen console in the same family, with the same PlayStation or Xbox account.
