Surprise injuries, points deductions for financial mismanagement, dressing-room conflicts, one press conference after another: in EA SPORTS FC 27 Manager Career, Unexpected Events can quickly weigh on a season. Since the v1.1.0 update, released on October 27, 2026, new Manager Career settings let you turn press conferences on or off and adjust the frequency of these interactions and of Unexpected Events, including in an existing save. This guide explains how these events work and how to keep them under control.
What to know before acting
- Expanded events in FC 27: according to EA, Unexpected Events now include surprise injuries, points deductions for financial mismanagement, internal conflicts and players late for training.
- Multi-stage events: each new stage of an event is triggered by the decision made at the previous stage, so your choices shape what comes next.
- Reversible penalties: EA says a points deduction could be removed entirely or halved, depending on how the situation is handled and on luck.
- Reworked press conferences: they are less frequent, come at pivotal moments and offer two options with no correct answer. Each one steers your manager identity (relationship with the squad or a player's confidence, for example).
- The v1.1.0 update: according to EA's patch notes, Manager Career gets a setting to turn Press Conferences on or off in the save, plus two new settings for the frequency of Press Conference interactions and of Unexpected Events. These settings, along with the existing Unexpected Events setting, are now editable during a save, not only when setting it up.
- Menu names: EA does not say which menu holds these settings. Exact labels may differ from this guide.
Step 1: install the v1.1 update
When to use it: you cannot see any setting for Unexpected Events.
Expected result: the game is up to date and the new v1.1 settings are available.
When to stop: if no update is offered, check the EA server status and try again later: a rollout can take time depending on the platform.
Step 2: adjust the frequency in an existing Career
When to use it: you want to keep your save, but with fewer events or press conferences.
Expected result: you get fewer Unexpected Events or press conferences over the following weeks.
Rollback: according to EA, these settings can be changed again in the same save.
Step 3: choose the frequency when creating a new Career
When to use it: you are starting a new Career and want a calmer, or a more eventful, experience.
Expected result: the Career starts with the frequency you chose.
Step 4: limit the damage of an ongoing event
When to use it: an event is already under way, for example a points deduction.
Expected result: you know how the event ends and how it affects your club.
When to stop: according to EA, luck also plays a part. An unfavourable outcome does not necessarily mean a bug.
Special cases
| Situation | What to know |
|---|---|
| Player asking for a transfer for no reason | EA does not link these new settings to transfer requests. See the guide Unjustified transfer requests in EA SPORTS FC 27 Career Mode: causes and fixes. |
| Player Career | The v1.1.0 patch notes place these settings in Manager Career. For Player Career, EA lists other changes (new rivalry objective types). |
| Setting missing after the update | Check that v1.1 is installed, then make sure you are in Manager Career and reread the v1.1.0 patch notes. |
Final check
- ☐ The v1.1.0 update is installed.
