Error #0.200.4 on Rockstar Games sign-in: verification code rejected

English translation of the original French post. Code, commands, paths and error codes keep their original meaning. Replies and moderation are shared in the original discussion.

You enter the code from your authenticator app to sign in to your Rockstar Games account (Rockstar Games Launcher, Rockstar website, GTA V or GTA Online), but sign-in fails with error #0.200.4. This guide follows Rockstar Games' support articles about this error and 2-Step Verification, checked on October 27, 2026 (listed at the end of the topic). It covers codes generated by an authenticator app.

Problem

  • After entering the 2-Step Verification code, this message appears (English text published by Rockstar):
Plain text3 lines

Incorrect verification code submitted. Please re-enter the correct code from your authenticator app into the Verification code field. #0.200.4
  • The code is rejected even though it was just generated.
  • You changed phones, reinstalled the authenticator app or changed the device's time.

What the error means

According to Rockstar, error #0.200.4 can occur if:

  • the code entered was incorrect or expired;
  • the authenticator app is desynchronized (wrong device clock);
  • the authenticator device has changed.

Authenticator app codes depend on the device's time: a clock that is off is enough to produce rejected codes.

SituationStep to follow
Code entered too late or with a typoStep 1
Same device, codes still rejectedStep 2
New phone, old device still availableStep 3
Old device lost or app erasedStep 4

Step 1: enter a valid code again

When to use it: always first.

Suggested solution

  1. Open the authenticator app and find the Rockstar Games entry.
  2. Wait for a new code if needed, then enter it right away, exactly as shown.
  3. Make sure you are using the entry for the right Rockstar account if the app contains several.

Expected result: sign-in succeeds.

When to move on: a code entered immediately is still rejected.

Step 2: resynchronize the authenticator app's time

When to use it: codes are rejected even though you enter them quickly, on the same device as before.

Suggested solution

Rockstar recommends checking that the clock of the device (or of the computer, for a desktop or browser authenticator) is set to the correct local time, date and time zone, and enabling automatic time sync if the app offers it.

Google Authenticator on Android (labels quoted by Rockstar):

  1. Open the Google Authenticator main menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Time Correction for Codes.
  4. Select Sync Now.

According to Rockstar, this sync only affects the app's internal time, not the phone's Date & Time settings.

On iPhone:

  1. Open Settings > General > Date & Time.
  2. Turn Set Automatically off, then on again.
  3. Restart the device.

Authenticator app on a PC: if the Windows clock keeps drifting, see Date et heure du PC qui se décalent sans cesse : causes et solutions (French guide).

For other apps, check their documentation for the time sync option.

Expected result: a new code is accepted.

Step 3: move 2-Step Verification to a new device

When to use it: you are changing phones or apps and you still have access to the old device (which generates valid codes).

Suggested solution

Remove the old device (Rockstar's procedure):

  1. Sign in to your account at rockstargames.com.
  2. Select your account icon in the upper right, then Account.
  3. Select Manage Account, then Security.
  4. Under 2-Step Verification Device, select Unlink.
  5. Enter an authentication code and your Rockstar Games account password, then select Verify.

Add the new device:

  1. Install an authenticator app on the new device.
  2. Go back to Account > Manage Account > Security.
  3. Scan the QR code shown with the app. If you can't scan it, use the Secret Key option to add the account manually.
  4. Enter the code shown in the app and your Rockstar Games account password, then select Verify.

Precaution: keep the old device until the new one has been validated.

Expected result: the new device generates codes accepted by Rockstar Games.

Step 4: you no longer have access to the authenticator device

When to use it: phone lost, reset, or app erased, with no way to generate a valid code.

Suggested solution

Rockstar points to the support of the authenticator app concerned to recover your codes:

Expected result: the restored app generates the Rockstar Games account codes again.

Special cases

Final check

  • ☐ The time, date and time zone of the authenticator device are correct.
  • ☐ The code entered comes from the Rockstar Games entry of the right account.
  • ☐ If you changed devices, the old one was unlinked and the new one validated.
  • ☐ Sign-in to the Rockstar Games account succeeds.
