This guide is for EA SPORTS FC 27 on PC players (often searched for as "FIFA 27") who play with a keyboard or keyboard and mouse and can no longer find their usual keys. This is not a bug: EA states that FC 27 introduces redesigned keyboard controls on PC, and that the Classic and Alternate layouts from previous games were removed. You therefore need to pick one of the two new layouts and get used to it.
Problem
- The Classic or Alternate keyboard layouts no longer appear.
- The gameplay keys are not the same as in previous editions.
- The game uses the controller instead of the keyboard (or the other way round) in some modes.
Step 1: choose one of the two new layouts
When to use it: if you are looking for your old layout.
Suggested solution
EA lists two keyboard layouts in FC 27:
- WASD (Default): the W, A, S and D keys move the players. In the French version of EA's article, this layout is called ZQSD (par défaut) and uses the Z, Q, S and D keys.
- Arrows: the arrow keys move the players.
Both include keyboard controls for attacking, defending, skill moves, tactics, set pieces and other gameplay actions. If you used the old Classic or Alternate layout, choose whichever of the two puts movement where you are used to it, then learn the other keys in the game's controls settings.
Expected result: players move with the chosen keys.

Step 2: play with keyboard and mouse
When to use it: if you combine keyboard and mouse.
Suggested solution
- EA states that mouse controls haven't changed in FC 27.
- With keyboard and mouse, you use the WASD (Default) or Arrows layout alongside the existing mouse controls, even when keyboard and mouse actions overlap.
Expected result: your mouse controls stay the same; only the keyboard keys follow the new layout.
Step 3: use the tactics shortcuts
When to use it: to change tactics during a match without going through the pause menu.
Suggested solution
FC 27 offers these keyboard shortcuts:
- 1 to 5: Dynamic Tactics.
- F1 to F4: Quick Tactics.
- F5 to F8: Tactical Suggestions.
- F9: Tactical Focus.
- F5 to F8 as well: Set-Piece Tactics, when attacking or defending.
Expected result: the tactic changes during the match.
Step 4: the game is not using the right device
When to use it: if the game expects the controller while you want to play on keyboard, or the other way round. EA describes three cases depending on the mode.
Suggested solution
- Division Rivals (Ultimate Team™): FC 27 uses the last-used input device saved to your profile. Check the selected device on the Kit Select screen before the match.
- Offline or single-player modes (for example Kickoff or Squad Battles): change device from the pause menu, under Settings → Select Sides.
- Other online or multiplayer modes: the game uses the device you used to start the current FC 27 session. To change, quit the game, then relaunch it using the device you want from the start.
Expected result: the right device controls your team.
