This guide covers EA SPORTS FC 27 (sometimes searched for as "FIFA 27") on PC, when your Steam or Epic Games account is connected to a different EA Account from the one you normally use: the game seems to start from scratch, and your Ultimate Team™ club or purchases are missing. EA notes that only one EA Account at a time can be connected to a platform, and game data is tied to the EA Account. Unlinking has consequences: start by identifying the linked account before changing anything.
Problem
- When FC 27 starts, the game signs in to an unknown or old EA Account.
- Your progress, Ultimate Team™ club or FC Points seem to be missing.
- A message says the Steam account is already linked, or you cannot link a new account.
Step 1: identify the EA Account that is actually linked
When to use it: always first. This check changes nothing.
Suggested solution
- Sign in to your EA Account in a browser and open the Connected Accounts tab of your EA Account settings.
- Check whether your Steam (or Epic Games) account is listed.
- If you own several EA Accounts, repeat the check with each one to find out which one is linked to your Steam account.
Expected result:
- Your Steam account is linked to your usual EA Account: the problem is not a wrong link; check instead that you are launching the game with the right Steam account.
- It is linked to another EA Account: go to step 2.
Step 2: recover the old account instead of unlinking
When to use it: the game signed in to an old EA Account whose login details you know, or that you can recover.
Suggested solution
- Launch the game.
- If you know your old login information, select Recover my account.
- Enter your details and follow the recovery process.

Expected result: you access the EA Account linked to your Steam account, with the progress stored on it.
Step 3: unlink and link another EA Account, knowing the risks
When to use it: only if you really want to connect your Steam account to another EA Account, after reading the risks below.
According to EA, if you link your Steam account to a different EA Account, all benefits such as rewards, points and in-game items stay on the EA Account your Steam account was first linked to. You cannot transfer games or a gamertag to another account yourself.
Suggested solution
- Check the change limit. EA limits how often links can be changed. Its current pages state that you can change your linked accounts up to 3 times in a rolling year; another EA help page still mentions that unlinking is not available if the link is less than one year old. Rely on what your own Connected Accounts tab shows: if the Unlink button is greyed out, your EA Account cannot be linked again.
- Ultimate Team™ players: if the platform account you are unlinking is still set as active in the Web or Companion App, EA states that you will lose access to the apps. If your EA Account has another platform account used for FC, change the active account first: in the Web App, select Settings, then Change beside the platform icon, and choose the other account. EA specifies that the risk is then much lower, but still exists.
- To unlink from the game: launch FC 27, select Use another account, then Continue. On Steam, select Unlink and Create New.
- After confirming, you return to the start screen: enter the login details of the EA Account you want to link, or select Create account.
- Other method: in the Connected Accounts tab of your EA Account, choose Unlink next to the Steam account, read the warning and complete any identity check requested.
Expected result: on the next launch, FC 27 signs in to the chosen EA Account. This comes at a cost: you will not be able to recover the content left on the old account yourself.
Step 4: two EA Accounts with games or purchases
When to use it: you created a second EA Account by mistake, or your purchases are split between two accounts.
Suggested solution
- Second account created with your main email address: EA describes a procedure to swap the email addresses of the two accounts so you can get back to your original account. Follow How do I manage my multiple EA Accounts?.
- Several EA Accounts with games: contact EA Help. EA states that its advisors may be able to merge your accounts, that you will need access to both accounts, and that not everything will transfer, including in-game progress. A merge is not always possible.
Expected result: you know whether a solution exists for your case before unlinking anything.
Special cases
- Banned, suspended or disabled account: EA states that you cannot unlink your platform account in this case. See EA's page Check and appeal EA Account locks, bans, and suspensions.
- An unknown Steam account appears on your EA Account: your account may have been hacked. Follow EA's procedure What to do if your EA Account was hacked before anything else.
Final check
- ☐ The Connected Accounts tab of the intended EA Account shows your Steam or Epic Games account.
- ☐ When launched, FC 27 signs in to that EA Account.
- ☐ For Ultimate Team™, the Web or Companion App opens with the right platform account active.
