In EA SPORTS FC 27 Ultimate Team (often searched as "FIFA 27"), Destined for Glory and Future Stars cards are dynamic items: they earn upgrades based on the player's real-world performances. A card that "isn't upgrading" isn't necessarily bugged. Most often a milestone hasn't been reached, the match doesn't count, or, for Future Stars, the upgrade date hasn't arrived yet. This guide uses the rules published by EA to check your case.
Problem
- A Destined for Glory card keeps the same rating although the player is scoring in the league.
- A Future Stars card has received no upgrade, even though the player has been starting for weeks.
- A defender or goalkeeper doesn't get the clean sheet upgrade.
- A card stopped upgrading after the player was transferred or loaned.
What to know first
- Only the domestic league counts: for both campaigns, EA says upgrades are based solely on the player's domestic league matches. Other competitions are therefore not taken into account. For Destined for Glory, only the 2026/27 season counts.
- Upgrades are not Evolutions: these are live upgrades applied by EA. Evolutions you apply yourself follow different rules: see Removing an Evolution from a player in EA SPORTS FC 27.
- Goals and assists are combined: EA uses Opta data and adds goals and assists together.
- Don't mix up the campaigns: Destined for Glory and Future Stars have different milestones and different schedules.
Step 1: identify the card's campaign
When to use it: always first, because the rules differ.
Suggested solution
- In your Ultimate Team club, open the player's card.
- Identify the card design: Destined for Glory (campaign launched September 25, 2026) or Future Stars (campaign launched October 9, 2026).
- Note the card's position. Milestones depend on position (attacker/midfielder or defender/goalkeeper).
Expected result: you know which milestone table applies (step 2 or step 3).
When to stop: if the card belongs to neither campaign, this guide doesn't apply.
Step 2: check the Destined for Glory milestones
When to use it: the card is a Destined for Glory card.
Suggested solution
- Attackers and midfielders (CM, CAM, LW, LM, RW, RM, ST): count goals + assists in the domestic league since September 25, 2026.
- 3: +1 Shooting & Passing
- 6: +1 PlayStyle
- 10: +1 OVR
- 20: +1 OVR
- Defenders (RB, LB, CB, CDM): count domestic league clean sheets.
- 2: +1 Defending & Physical
- 4: +1 PlayStyle
- 6: +1 OVR
- 10: +1 OVR
- For a clean sheet, check that the player featured in the match (started or came on as a substitute). A team clean sheet without them doesn't count.
What it does: this count tells you whether a milestone has really been reached. For example, according to EA, 3 goals and 3 assists give the +1 PlayStyle upgrade.
Expected result: either the milestone hasn't been reached yet (the card is behaving normally), or it has and the upgrade should arrive.
When to stop: EA's article doesn't say how long an upgrade takes to apply after a match. If a milestone was reached only recently, wait before concluding it's a bug.
Step 3: check the Future Stars schedule and milestones
When to use it: the card is a Future Stars card.
Suggested solution
- Check the date: EA says tracking began on October 9 and live upgrades will be released on February 3 next year. Before that date, it's normal for a Future Stars card to be unchanged.
- Leagues outside the Americas:
- 4 starts: +1 OVR (up to 86)
- 8 starts: +1 OVR (up to 87)
- attacker/midfielder, 7 goals + assists, or defender/goalkeeper, 4 clean sheets: +1 PlayStyle+ (max 1)
- attacker/midfielder, 10 goals + assists, or defender/goalkeeper, 7 clean sheets: 5-star weak foot
- NWSL, MLS, Liga MX and LPF:
- 2 starts: +1 OVR (up to 86)
- 3 starts: +1 OVR (up to 87)
- attacker/midfielder, 2 goals + assists, or defender/goalkeeper, 2 clean sheets: +1 PlayStyle+
- attacker/midfielder, 4 goals + assists, or defender/goalkeeper, 3 clean sheets: 5-star weak foot
- For a clean sheet, the player must have featured in the match.
What it does: you know which upgrades your card should receive in the February 3 update.
Expected result: before February 3, no upgrade is expected. After that date, the card reflects the milestones reached.
When to stop: there's no point contacting support about an unchanged Future Stars card before the date announced by EA.
Step 4: check the player's club
When to use it: the card was upgrading, then nothing more.
Suggested solution
- Check whether the real player has been transferred or loaned since the campaign started.
- For Destined for Glory, EA says a player who leaves their club is no longer eligible for upgrades.
- Also check that they still play in the domestic league: matches in other competitions don't count.
Expected result: you know whether the card is still eligible.
When to stop: a transfer or loan ends Destined for Glory upgrades. No in-game action restarts them.
Special cases
- Card already has a PlayStyle+ or 5-star weak foot (Future Stars): EA plans a replacement. A card that already has 1 PlayStyle+ gets +1 base PlayStyle. A card that already has a 5-star weak foot gets 5-star skill moves.
- Rating cap reached (Future Stars): OVR gains stop at 86, then 87.
- Future Stars Academy: the Future Stars Academy is an Evolution you apply yourself (ST or CAM born on or after October 9, 2003). It doesn't depend on real-world performances.
- Ultimate Scream cards: EA announces a temporary one-week transformation starting November 24, 2026 (one face stat to 99 and full in-position Chemistry). It isn't part of the upgrades described here.

Final check
- ☐ The card's campaign is identified (Destined for Glory or Future Stars).
- ☐ The count only covers the domestic league.
- ☐ For a clean sheet, the player actually featured in the match.
- ☐ For Future Stars, the February 3 date has passed.
- ☐ The real player hasn't left their club (Destined for Glory).
