Mojang’s November 3, 2026 testing hub lists ice caves, frostbite zombies, brittle ice, calcite sets, and the Flurry music disc in Java snapshots and Bedrock Preview/beta. Official how-to-test steps — without inventing a release date.

Consulted November 5, 2026 (Europe/Paris). On November 3, 2026, Minecraft.net published a hub titled “Everything you can test from the upcoming game drop.” Mojang describes it as the final game drop of 2026, focused on ice caves and related features, and still clearly framed as beta / preview / snapshot testing.

No release date for the finished drop appears on the hub or the matching Snapshot / Preview notes consulted on November 5. Treat every feature below as in testing and subject to change.

What Mojang is asking players to test

Across the testing timeline summarized on the hub (late September through November 3), features called out include:
  • Ice caves decorated with ice crystals and icicles.
  • Frostbite — the frozen zombie variant — and ice balls.
  • Brittle ice that cracks underfoot and can cover crevasses leading into ice caves; craft path described as adding water to blue ice.
  • Jukebox playlists — place a chest on a jukebox and fill it with music discs.
  • Ambient ice sounds and a full packed ice decorative set (bricks, slabs, stairs, walls, chiseled).
  • Snow bricks set and freezing water via sulfur cubes fed blue ice (as described in the hub’s playful wording — confirm exact item names in the live changelog before editing loadouts or wiki-style guides).
  • Calcite block sets (including polished variants and pillars) and a new music disc, Flurry by Hyper Potions (igloo basement chests cited in Preview notes; Snapshot 7 also lists the disc).
For Java, Snapshot notes label calcite and Flurry among the final gameplay features for the upcoming drop — still snapshot language, not a ship announcement.

How to test on Java Edition

  1. Open the Minecraft Launcher.
  2. Enable snapshots under the Installations tab.
  3. Create or select a snapshot installation (see current Snapshot article for the exact build, e.g. 26.4 line).
  4. Back up worlds or use a separate saves folder — Mojang warns testing versions can corrupt worlds.
Report bugs on the Minecraft issue tracker; send feedback via feedback.minecraft.net.

How to test on Bedrock Edition

  1. Enable Preview / beta for Bedrock following Mojang’s platform-specific instructions linked from the hub.
  2. Preview availability noted for Realms on Xbox, Windows 10/11, and iOS; Android betas via Google Play (per hub wording).
  3. Active Realms subscribers may create a free testing Realm as described by Mojang — again, separate from main worlds.
  4. Same backup warning as Java.
Preview changelog consulted: 26.70.23 (November 3, 2026) adds calcite sets and the Flurry disc among other Drop 4 fixes.

Related Marketplace note (separate article)

A October 28, 2026 Minecraft.net post about a free fall sound-effect pack also states that sound effect packs launch fully on November 10. That is a Marketplace / sound packs timeline, not a confirmed ship date for the ice game drop. Do not merge the two without re-checking Mojang.

What this article does not claim

  • No invented Drop release day, name finalization, or cross-play guarantees beyond Mojang’s text.
  • No claim that every snapshot feature will ship unchanged.
  • Java and Bedrock remain distinct editions — do not mix install steps.
