Microsoft Edge 156: Enhanced Autofill for IDs and Credential Key Icon details (October 2026 Stable)
Microsoft Edge Stable 156 (main release 156.0.4314.42 on October 22, 2026, with follow-up builds through 156.0.4314.58 on October 30) adds Enhanced Autofill for more document types such as passports and driver’s licenses, and expands the address-bar key icon so saved credentials show details, copy actions, and personal notes. Notes come from Microsoft’s Stable Channel release page.
Consulted November 5, 2026 (Europe/Paris). Microsoft’s Edge Stable Channel release notes list version 156.0.4314.42 as the October 22, 2026 main Stable release, with later Stable updates including 156.0.4314.58 on October 30, 2026 . This article focuses on consumer-visible desktop features from the 156 main notes—not the developer-only web-platform changelog.
Enhanced Autofill (more document types)
On desktop, Microsoft says Edge can now autofill additional document types —including passports , driver’s licenses , and other specialized forms— on top of saved addresses . Treat this as a convenience feature: you still control what is saved in the browser password/autofill settings, and sites may not accept every field the same way.
Credential Key Icon: details, copy, notes
The key icon in the address bar can let users select a saved credential and open a detail panel . From that panel, Microsoft documents that users can:
- copy a username
- reveal and copy a password
- add personal notes to each login (for example security questions, account purpose, or recovery details)
Microsoft positions this as a way to keep those notes with the credential without opening full Settings or the full password manager UI.
Other 156 notes worth knowing (short)
The Stable 156 feature list also mentions a more consistent site permissions UI across the Omnibox, Page Info and Settings.
Security updates for Stable builds are listed via Microsoft’s separate Edge security release notes link on the same Stable Channel page—TricknFix does not reproduce CVE exploit details.
How to check your version
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Go to edge://settings/help (or Settings → About Microsoft Edge ).
- Confirm you are on 156.x (or newer if Microsoft has already moved your channel forward).
- If an update is pending, finish the restart prompted by Edge.
What TricknFix does not invent
- No claim that every government or bank form accepts Edge Autofill for passport/license fields.
- No invented FPS, “scareware” test results, or unofficial “optimizer” steps.
- No Edge 157 OneAuth/XSLT admin countdown as the main story—this lot stays on 156 consumer features already documented on the Stable Channel page.
