Apex Legends Anti-Cheat (November 4, 2026): Rookie Rank exploit fixed — 905 bans and 15.1M RP removed
Respawn/EA’s Anti-Cheat Team post dated November 4, 2026 describes a Ranked exploit—mainly on PlayStation 5—that let players enter matches as Rookie IV regardless of true rank, skipping entry cost and recording MMR as 0 while RP still applied. EA banned 905 accounts (tiered 120/240/365 days), deducted 15,112,554 RP, and says unintentional cases were not actioned.
Consulted November 5, 2026 (Europe/Paris). On November 4, 2026, Apex Legends published “An Update from the Anti-Cheat Team – Nov 4, 2026” on the game’s Steam news feed (same text is mirrored by community trackers). The post is a Ranked integrity enforcement note, separate from the Season 31: Cipher feature patch notes.
What the exploit did (official summary)
EA says it identified and fixed an exploit that allowed some players — primarily on PlayStation 5 — to enter Ranked matches as Rookie IV regardless of their actual rank. Listed unintended advantages:
- No Ranked entry cost
- Rookie-tier kill bonuses
- Matchmaking Rating (MMR) recorded as 0
- RP earned in those matches still added to the player’s real Ranked score
Enforcement results (as published)
- 905 accounts banned; suspension length tied to illegitimate RP gained:
* 731 — 120 days (up to 4,999 RP)
* 107 — 240 days (5,000–9,999 RP)
* 67 — 365 days (10,000+ RP)
- Enforcement by platform (same post): PC 12 · PlayStation 848 · Xbox 44 · Nintendo Switch 2 2
- Total RP deducted: 15,112,554
- EA states it distinguished unintentional interaction from deliberate abuse; unintentional cases were not actioned.
Same-day balance hotfix (related, not the same story)
Also on November 4, Steam lists “Apex Legends: Latest Update 11/4/26”: Crypto drone recall shortened from 6 seconds to 0.7 seconds, a Crypto ordnance-while-in-drone crash fix, and a stop on an excessive Evac Towers exploit. That is a gameplay/hotfix note; this article focuses on the Anti-Cheat Ranked post. A shorter Crypto follow-up remains a candidate for a later lot.
What TricknFix does not invent
- No list of banned gamertags, no claim every PS5 Rookie queue was illegitimate, and no invented ALGS or Competitive Circuit penalties beyond this Ranked post.
- No FPS claims and no “how to abuse” reproduction steps.
