Hands On Car Wash income blocked by Heat in GTA Online: causes and solutions

Tutorial

With the Money Fronts update (June 2025), GTA Online added front businesses: the Hands On Car Wash, then Smoke on the Water and Higgins Helitours. Their passive income depends on a suspicion meter called Heat. When it rises, Rockstar says the front stops generating passive income until you have cooled it down through legal activities. This guide helps you find why the money stopped coming in and where to collect it.

Problem

  • A front's passive income (Car Wash, Smoke on the Water or Higgins Helitours) no longer increases.
  • A front is flagged on the map with a caution icon.
  • The money from a Money Laundering mission doesn't seem to have been paid.
  • Smoke on the Water or Higgins Helitours can't be bought or claimed.

What to know first

  • The Car Wash comes first: Rockstar says Smoke on the Water and Higgins Helitours are only available after buying the Hands On Car Wash.
  • Two kinds of money: Money Laundering Missions pay out into a Duffel Bag; laundered income and income from your other businesses go to the Car Wash safe.
  • Heat is handled front by front: Rockstar describes a legal activity specific to each business that lowers the Heat "on those respective ventures".
  • In-game names: the official sources read are in English (Heat, Money Laundering Missions, Mr. Faber Work, Legal Missions). Labels in other game languages may differ.

Step 1: find the front that has Heat

When to use it: passive income no longer increases.

Suggested solution

  1. Open the in-game map and look for your fronts.
  2. Spot those showing a caution signal: according to Rockstar, businesses with Heat are flagged this way on the map.
  3. Think about what you launched recently: according to Rockstar, Money Laundering Missions raise Heat on your fronts, and Mr. Faber Work missions raise it on the business they are launched from.

Expected result: you know which front is blocked by Heat.

When to stop: if no front is flagged, Heat is probably not the cause. Go to step 3 to check where the money was deposited.

Step 2: lower Heat through a legal activity

When to use it: a front is flagged on the map.

Suggested solution

  1. Hands On Car Wash: clean customers' vehicles at the Car Wash, then return them to the client for a cash payment.
  2. Smoke on the Water: deliver bales of the shop's organic product.
  3. Higgins Helitours: run landmark tours with the company's Maverick.
  4. After each activity, check whether the caution signal has disappeared from the map.

What it does: according to Rockstar, these legal activities lower the Heat on the business concerned and also provide a payout.

Expected result: the caution signal disappears and the front starts generating passive income again.

When to stop: don't chain new Money Laundering missions on a front until its Heat has come back down: Rockstar advises balancing criminal gains with legitimate business activities at each front.

Step 3: collect the money in the right place

When to use it: a mission or income seems not to have been paid.

Suggested solution

  1. Money Laundering mission earnings: Rockstar says they are stored in the Duffel Bag in the bedroom of the Car Wash. Go to the bedroom to collect them.
  2. Laundered income and income from your other businesses: it goes to the Car Wash safe. Collect it from the safe inside the Hands On Car Wash.
  3. Then compare your GTA$ balance before and after collecting.

Expected result: the expected money appears in your balance.

When to stop: if both the bag and the safe are empty although a mission was successful, note the date, time and mission name, then contact Rockstar Support.

Step 4: launch Money Laundering missions

When to use it: you can't find how to start a Money Laundering mission or a Mr. Faber Work mission.

Suggested solution

  1. Use the laptop inside one of your fronts.
  2. Or call Raf (Raf De Angelis) on the phone.
  3. Pick the mission you want. Then plan a legal activity: these missions raise Heat.

Expected result: the mission starts.

Special cases

  • Smoke on the Water or Higgins Helitours unavailable: buy the Hands On Car Wash first. Rockstar has already offered Higgins Helitours for free to Car Wash owners for a limited period, on Maze Bank Foreclosures: check current offers in game.
  • Boosts to your other businesses: owning the Car Wash boosts your MC's Counterfeit Cash Factory sales, Smoke on the Water boosts Weed Farm sales, and Higgins Helitours boosts Air Freight Cargo.
  • Several fronts blocked: Rockstar describes a legal activity specific to each front. Handle them one at a time and check the map after each.

Final check

  • ☐ No front is flagged with a caution signal on the map.
  • ☐ Passive income is increasing again.
  • ☐ The bedroom bag and the Car Wash safe have been emptied.
  • ☐ You know that Money Laundering missions and Mr. Faber Work raise Heat.
