Payphone Hits (assassination contracts received through a payphone) are part of GTA Online's The Contract update (December 2021), alongside Franklin's Agency, F. Clinton & Partner. They are not available straight away: you must own an Agency and have completed a few Security Contracts. This guide helps you check which step is missing.
Problem
- No payphone rings and no Payphone Hit icon appears on the map.
- Franklin does not offer a Payphone Hit when you call him.
- You do not know where to start the Agency's Security Contracts.
- An event bonus on Payphone Hits does not apply.
What to know before acting
- An Agency is required: Rockstar reserves Payphone Hits for Agency owners.
- Unlock order: according to Rockstar, Franklin reveals Payphone Hits after you complete your third Security Contract.
- Two ways to start them: answer a payphone marked on the map, or call Franklin from the in-game phone.
- In-game names: the official sources consulted are in English (Agency, Security Contracts, Payphone Hits, Dynasty 8 Executive). Labels may differ in other language versions of the game.
Step 1: check that you own an Agency
When to use it: you have never bought an F. Clinton & Partner office.
Suggested solution
- Open the Dynasty 8 Executive website on the in-game phone or computer. Rockstar states that Agency properties are purchased there.
- Choose an Agency location and buy it. Upgrades (Armory, Vehicle Workshop with Imani Tech modifications) are optional for Payphone Hits.
- Go to your Agency after the purchase.
Expected result: the Agency appears on the map and you can enter it.
Step 2: complete three Security Contracts
When to use it: you own the Agency, but no Payphone Hit is offered.
Suggested solution
- Enter your Agency and use the office computer. Rockstar says Security Contracts are launched from there.
- Pick a Security Contract (recovering valuables or vehicles, rescue operations, defending assets, etc.) and complete it.
- Repeat until you have three successful Security Contracts.
- Outside the Agency, you can also call Franklin or Imani from your phone: Rockstar says you can request Security Contracts and Payphone Hits from them "from the road".
Expected result: after the third contract, Franklin introduces Payphone Hits.
When to stop: if nothing happens after three successful contracts, call Franklin (step 3). If the option is still missing, contact Rockstar Support, stating your platform and the number of contracts completed.
Step 3: start a Payphone Hit
When to use it: Payphone Hits are unlocked.
Suggested solution
- Open the map and look for a nearby blue square icon: Rockstar says it marks a payphone where you can pick up the contract.
- Go to the payphone and answer it to get the target's details.
- Another option: call Franklin directly from your phone to offer your services.
- Follow the contract's specific instructions: Rockstar specifies that bonuses are paid for following the instructions given for the hit, and that these assignments demand a low profile.
Expected result: the target is marked and the reward is paid at the end of the contract, with a bonus if the instructions were followed.
Special cases
- Dr. Dre's contract: the Agency's first A-List client contract (the theft of Dr. Dre's phone, called The Data Leaks in the announcements) is a separate activity from Payphone Hits. The announcements consulted do not specify its unlock conditions.
- Fewer invitations: since The Contract, Rockstar sends fewer invitation calls and texts. You can open the Pause menu map, highlight a contact's blip and trigger their introduction from that screen.
- Event bonuses: the doubled or tripled payouts on Payphone Hits and Security Contracts mentioned by Rockstar all have end dates. Check the current week's announcement before counting on a bonus.
Final check
- ☐ You own an Agency bought from Dynasty 8 Executive.
- ☐ At least three Security Contracts have been completed.
- ☐ A blue square icon appears on the map, or Franklin offers a Payphone Hit by phone.
- ☐ The contract's specific instructions are followed to earn the bonus.
