Warzone ends on PS4 and Xbox One in Season 1: keep your progression and COD Points

Tutorial

Do you play Call of Duty: Warzone on PS4 or Xbox One? Activision has announced that the game will no longer be playable on these consoles starting with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1, scheduled for November 6, 2026 (midnight ET, 6:00 a.m. Paris time). Your progression isn't lost: it carries over to PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC, as long as you use the same linked Activision account. Unspent COD Points and some purchases follow different rules. This guide explains what carries over, what stays tied to the console and how to check it.

Problem

  • Warzone no longer launches, or is no longer playable, on your PS4 or Xbox One.
  • Warzone no longer appears in the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store on your old console.
  • The in-game store and Battle Pass purchases with COD Points are gone from the PS4 or Xbox One version.
  • You want to continue on a newer console or a PC without losing your levels, Operators or purchases.
  • On your new platform, you find an empty profile or a different COD Points balance.

What to know before you act

  • The official timeline: according to Activision's FAQ, Warzone was removed from the PS4 and Xbox One stores on June 4, 2026. The in-game store was then removed on June 25, 2026, the deadline for spending COD Points on these consoles; the free Battle Pass tiers remained available. Finally, the game stops being playable with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1.
  • Progression lives on your Activision account: Activision explains that cross-progression games store your progress on the Activision account, not on the PlayStation or Xbox account. Content bought with COD Points is also shared on the Activision account.
  • Unspent COD Points stay with the console: they are tied to the platform account. They are only available on the current-gen console in the same family: PS4 to PS5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S, with the same account.
  • Real-money purchases: most content bought with local currency (for example bundles) is tied to the platform account. It also only carries over to the current-gen console in the same family.
  • Other Call of Duty games aren't affected: Activision states that the other titles released on PS4 and Xbox One remain playable. The change only applies to Warzone.

Step 1: choose your new platform based on what you want to keep

When to use it: before installing Warzone elsewhere.

Suggested solution

  1. If you still have unspent COD Points or content bought with real money, prefer the console in the same family: PS5 if you came from PS4, Xbox Series X|S if you came from Xbox One.
  2. If you only have your progression and content bought with COD Points, any supported platform works: PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC.
  3. Keep access to your Activision account's email address: a verification code may be sent to it.

Expected result: you know which platform to play on and which platform account to sign in with.

When to stop: on PC, Activision's FAQ doesn't provide a way to recover COD Points left on a PS4 or Xbox One. If that balance matters to you, don't pick PC for those points.

Step 2: check which Activision account is linked to your old console

When to use it: always, before playing on the new platform.

Suggested solution

  1. Open the help page Managing your Activision account. It links to the Activision account website.
  2. Sign in to the Activision account you used on PS4 or Xbox One.
  3. Open the Linked Accounts tab and check that your PlayStation or Xbox account is listed.
  4. Note the Activision ID (in the form DisplayName#1234567). You'll need to see the same one on the new platform.

Expected result: you know which Activision account holds your Warzone progression.

When to stop: if your PlayStation or Xbox account is linked to a different Activision account than you thought, don't unlink anything yet. Read step 4 first.

Step 3: sign in with the same account on the new platform

When to use it: the linked account has been checked.

Suggested solution

  1. On PS5 or Xbox Series X|S: sign in to the console with the same PlayStation or Xbox account as on the old console, then install Warzone.
  2. On PC: install Warzone from the store of your choice (Steam, Battle.net or the Xbox app), then link that PC account to the same Activision account. The procedure is described in the "Linking Platform Accounts" section of Activision's help page.
  3. On first launch, sign in to the Activision account when the game asks. According to Activision, Modern Warfare 4 requires an Activision account to play online.
  4. Check that the Activision ID shown matches the one you noted in step 2.

Expected result: your level, Operators and content bought with COD Points appear on the new platform.

When to stop: if the ID shown is different, don't keep playing on that account. Go to step 4.

Step 4: fix a platform account linked to the wrong Activision account

When to use it: the new platform shows an empty profile or another Activision ID.

Suggested solution

  1. According to Activision, if you link a platform account to another Activision account, your progress doesn't carry over. It isn't lost: it stays on the original Activision account.
  2. Find out which Activision account is linked to the platform account of your new console or PC (Linked Accounts tab).
  3. To fix it, you need to unlink that platform account and link it to the original Activision account, following Activision's help page.

Expected result: the platform account is linked to the Activision account that holds your progression, and it reappears.

Rollback: according to Activision, relinking the platform to the original account restores your progression and content.

When to stop: Activision only allows unlinking a platform account once every 12 months. An unlink request may also be denied if suspicious login attempts are detected, or if the account has an active enforcement. If in doubt, contact Activision support before acting.

  • ☐ On the new platform, the Activision ID shown in the game is the same.
  • ☐ Your level and Operators appear.
  • ☐ If you had unspent COD Points, you're playing on the current-gen console in the same family, with the same PlayStation or Xbox account.
