Diamond Casino Heist won't launch in GTA Online: the Arcade

Tutorial

The Diamond Casino Heist (December 2019) is not started from the casino or from an apartment. Rockstar ties it to one specific property: an Arcade, whose basement serves as the planning base. This guide explains how to unlock the heist, where to plan it and what not to confuse it with.

Problem

  • Lester does not offer you the casino heist.
  • You own the casino penthouse, but no heist appears.
  • You have an Arcade, but you cannot find the planning boards.
  • An event bonus on the heist finale does not apply to you.

What to know before acting

  • An Arcade is required: Rockstar reserves this heist for Arcade owners ("Anyone with an Arcade" in bonus announcements).
  • Do not confuse it with the casino missions: the Casino Story Missions and Casino Work Missions are tied to the casino and its Master Penthouse, not to the heist. Owning the penthouse does not unlock The Diamond Casino Heist.
  • In-game names: the official sources read are in English (Arcade, Hideout, Maze Bank Foreclosures, Silent & Sneaky, The Big Con, Aggressive). Labels in other language versions of the game may differ.

Step 1: meet Lester, then buy an Arcade

When to use it: you do not own an Arcade yet.

Suggested solution

  1. If you received the text from Cheng Family Holdings, follow it: Rockstar presents this text as the starting point of the heist.
  2. Meet Lester in Mirror Park, as stated in the launch announcement.
  3. Open the Maze Bank Foreclosures website on the in-game phone or computer and buy an Arcade.
  4. Go to your Arcade.

Expected result: the Arcade appears on your map and you can enter it.

If Lester does not contact you: since The Contract (December 2021), Rockstar sends fewer invitation calls and texts. You can open the Pause menu map, highlight a contact's blip and trigger their introduction from that screen.

Step 2: get the Arcade up and running and open the Hideout

When to use it: you own the Arcade, but cannot see where to plan.

Suggested solution

  1. Rockstar states that you first need to get the Arcade up and running, notably by stocking it with arcade cabinets with help from a friend of Lester's family. The announcements read do not detail every step of this setup: follow the in-game instructions.
  2. Once the Arcade is operational, go down to the basement: the Hideout has three planning boards, space for getaway vehicles and prep equipment, and rehearsal areas.
  3. Start planning from these boards.

Expected result: the three planning boards are accessible in the Hideout.

When to stop: if the Hideout remains inaccessible even though the Arcade is purchased and the in-game instructions are complete, leave the session and come back once. If nothing changes, contact Rockstar Support with your platform and the last message you received.

Step 3: prepare and choose the approach

When to use it: the Hideout is open and you are preparing the heist.

Suggested solution

  1. Scoping and preps: complete the prep missions. Rockstar specifies that optional objectives (scoping entry points, destroying deliveries, getting information from a former casino employee) give you more routes, approaches and options.
  2. Support crew: hire a driver, a gunman and a hacker through Lester's network. The best experts cost more, and their availability depends on your connections.
  3. Approach: choose Silent & Sneaky (stealth), The Big Con (disguises as maintenance staff, pest control, etc.) or Aggressive (assault, with heavier resistance).
  4. Then start the finale.

Expected result: the finale is available with the chosen approach and crew. Rockstar specifies that if stealth fails, the mission can continue with your remaining lives.

Special cases

  • Expert hacker: Rockstar states that destroying all the government signal jammers scattered around the city gets you an expert hacker for your crew.
  • Vault contents: in some weeks, Rockstar increases the chance of finding precious stones or guarantees diamonds in the vault (for example until June 16, 2025). These guarantees always have an end date: do not rely on an old announcement.
  • Event bonuses: double payouts on the finale and Arcade discounts (November 2025, etc.) have end dates. Check the current week's announcement.

Final check

  • ☐ You own an Arcade bought on Maze Bank Foreclosures (the casino penthouse is not enough).
  • ☐ The Arcade is up and running and the basement Hideout is accessible.
  • ☐ Preps, crew and approach are chosen before the finale.
