Low Driven or Trivela shot not working in EA SPORTS FC 27: cause and solutions

English translation of the original French post. Code, commands, paths and error codes keep their original meaning. Replies and moderation are shared in the original discussion.

In EA SPORTS FC 27 (often searched for as "FIFA 27"), your Low Driven Shot goes up in the air, or your player strikes with the top of the foot instead of the outside of the foot. In most cases, the cause lies in how the shot is triggered or in the player's profile. This guide follows EA's support article "How to shoot in EA SPORTS FC", checked on October 27, 2026 and listed in the EA SPORTS FC 27 section of EA Help (source at the end of the topic).

Problem

  • The Low Driven Shot doesn't come out: the ball travels at normal height or in the air.
  • Combining Low Driven with a Chip Shot does nothing.
  • Your player never takes a Trivela Shot and strikes with the top of the foot.

What to know before acting

According to EA:

  • In EA SPORTS FC 27 (as in EA SPORTS FC 26), Low Driven can be added to most shot types by pressing the shot input again after setting your shot power.
  • It combines with the Finesse Shot, the Power Shot and the Trivela Shot, but not with the Chip Shot.
  • The Trivela Shot requires the player to have the Game Changer PlayStyle or PlayStyle+. Without it, the shot is attempted with the top of the foot.
  • Controls depend on your platform and control configuration: this guide doesn't give specific buttons, but shows how to find them in the game.

Step 1: display your shooting controls

When to use it: always first, to know which button matches each shot type with your configuration.

Suggested solution

From the Main Menu:

  1. Select Play, then Learn to Play.
  2. Open the Practice Arena and pause the game.
  3. Select Button Help to view your controls.

During a match: pause the game, go to Settings, then Basic Controls.

Expected result: you know the shot, Finesse Shot, Power Shot and Trivela Shot inputs for your configuration.

Step 2: trigger the Low Driven Shot correctly

When to use it: the ball doesn't stay low.

Suggested solution

  1. Set the power with the input of the shot you want (regular shot, Finesse Shot, Power Shot or Trivela Shot).
  2. After setting the power, press the shot input a second time.
  3. For a Low Driven volley or header, the principle is the same: set the power, then press the shot input again.
  4. Don't try to add it to a Chip Shot: EA states that this modifier can't be added to it.

What to look for: EA recommends the Low Driven Shot especially for close-range and one-on-one chances.

Expected result: the shot stays low, toward the area you aimed at.

Step 3: check that the player can take a Trivela Shot

When to use it: your player strikes with the top of the foot instead of the outside.

Suggested solution

  1. Check the player's profile to see whether they have the Game Changer PlayStyle or PlayStyle+.
  2. If not, the Trivela Shot will be replaced by a shot with the top of the foot: use another player who has this PlayStyle for this move.
  3. If they do, check in step 1 that you're using the Trivela Shot input of your configuration.

Expected result: players with the Game Changer PlayStyle shoot with the outside of the foot.

Step 4: practice without match pressure

When to use it: the input is right, but the move is still inconsistent.

Suggested solution

  1. Training Center: Main Menu, Learn to Play, Training Center, then an option that works on shooting (Fundamentals, Rush or Attacking).
  2. Practice Arena: Main Menu, Learn to Play, Practice Arena, choose your settings and start practicing.
  3. Practice one shot type at a time, changing distance, angle and power between attempts.
  4. Switch players to see how their attributes and PlayStyles affect each shot.

Expected result: you trigger the Low Driven Shot and the Trivela Shot at the right moment.

Special cases

Final check

  • ☐ You displayed your controls in Button Help or Basic Controls.
  • ☐ You press the shot input a second time after setting the power.
  • ☐ You're not trying to combine Low Driven with a Chip Shot.
  • ☐ The player used for the Trivela Shot has the Game Changer PlayStyle or PlayStyle+.
