In Ultimate Team™ in EA SPORTS FC 27 (sometimes searched for as "FIFA 27"), a Player submitted to an Evolution becomes untradeable, and can't be discarded or used in an SBC while the Evolution is in progress. EA Help describes a feature to remove the last Evolution or all Evolutions from a Player Item. This guide explains when to use it, what it undoes and what it doesn't give back.
The explanations follow EA's Help article shared across EA SPORTS FC (updated about two weeks before the date it was checked). Labels quoted are those of that article; they may differ slightly in-game.
First: identify your situation
| Situation | What EA says | Branch |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Evolution in progress | Player untradeable, no SBC and no discarding during the Evolution | Finish or remove the Evolution (Step 2) |
| Standard Evolution completed | A fully upgraded Player can be used in SBCs | Step 1 if you only want to use the Player |
| Training Camp Evolution | Player unavailable for a set time; can be cancelled | Step 3 |
| Player tradeable again | Only if tradeable before any Evolution, after removing all its Evolutions | Step 2 |
Step 1: finish the Evolution if you can
When to use it: the Evolution suits you, but you want to use the Player again (SBC, new Evolution).
Step 2: remove the last Evolution or all Evolutions
When to use it: you no longer want the upgrade, or you want the Player to be tradeable again.
According to EA, removing an Evolution is final and can't be undone.
Good to know: EA's article doesn't mention any refund of FC Points or Coins spent to unlock a standard Evolution that you remove. For a paid slot, EA also states that payment gives you one entry.
Step 3: cancel a Training Camp Evolution
When to use it: the Player is tied up in a Training Camp Evolution (from a few hours to more than 30 days, according to EA).
Avoid tying up the wrong Player
Before submitting a Player, use Preview Evolution: select the Evolution, then a Player, then Preview Evolution. You can chain several previews; the list of Evolutions is then filtered using the resulting stats. When a level offers several rewards, your choice is only locked when you complete that level and claim its rewards.
Final check
- ☐ The Evolution type (standard or Training Camp) is identified.
- ☐ The downgrade details were read before confirming.
- ☐ After removal, the Player was put back in the Squad if needed.
- ☐ To make a Player tradeable again: all its Evolutions were removed and it was tradeable before.
