Squad Battles not giving Battle Points in EA SPORTS FC 27: causes

English translation of the original French post. Code, commands, paths and error codes keep their original meaning. Replies and moderation are shared in the original discussion.

In Ultimate Team™ in EA SPORTS FC 27 (sometimes searched for as "FIFA 27"), Squad Battles (« Clashs d'équipes » in the French version) pits you against AI-controlled Squads. A match you won gives you no Battle Points, your Rank drops while you're not playing, or matches seem to have vanished? EA Help describes specific rules on which matches count, refreshes and Co-Op. This guide turns them into a diagnosis.

The rules quoted come from EA's Help article shared across EA SPORTS FC Ultimate Team (updated about three weeks before the date it was checked). Labels are those of that article; they may differ slightly in-game.

Problem

  • A finished Squad Battles match gives no Battle Points.
  • Fewer matches count for the week than expected.
  • Your Rank drops while you're not playing.
  • The weekly rewards haven't arrived yet.

Quick diagnosis

ObservationCause documented by EASection
No points after several matches this weekAll weekly competition matches already playedStep 1
No points for one specific matchMatch ended early or skipped by a refreshStep 2
No points in Co-OpOne of the two players had no weekly matches leftStep 3
Rank dropping without playingOther players keep earning pointsStep 4

Step 1: check that you have weekly matches left

When to use it: no match gives Battle Points any more.

Suggested solution

  1. According to EA, only your weekly competition matches count toward your weekly score.
  2. Once those are played, you can keep playing: these additional matches still earn Coins and progress toward Objectives, but no Battle Points.

Expected result: if your weekly matches are used up, getting no points is normal until the next competition.

Step 2: match quit or skipped by a refresh

When to use it: a specific match gave nothing, or matches have "disappeared".

Suggested solution

  1. If you end a match early or skip a match by refreshing, you earn no Battle Points for that match.
  2. Quitting a match counts as a forfeit with a 3–0 loss.
  3. If you refresh Squads without having played the four available matches, the unplayed matches still count toward your competitive matches for the week.
  4. EA states that refreshes can't be reset: skipped matches aren't given back.

Expected result: you know whether the missing match was used up by quitting or refreshing. In that case, there is no way to recover it.

Before refreshing, play the offered matches you want to count: a refresh uses up unplayed matches.

Step 3: Co-Op match with no points

When to use it: you're playing with a friend.

Suggested solution

  1. A Co-Op match starts by inviting a player from your Friends List in the Ultimate Team™ Main Menu.
  2. The Lobby Captain chooses the opponent and difficulty; both players earn Battle Points and Coins.
  3. But if either player has no weekly competition matches left, neither player earns Battle Points from that match.

Expected result: before starting, check that you both have weekly matches left.

Step 4: Rank dropping and rewards

When to use it: your ranking changes while you're not playing, or you're waiting for rewards.

Suggested solution

  1. Each Rank includes a percentage of players based on their Battle Points: your Rank can drop when others score points, even if you don't play.
  2. The leaderboard updates approximately every five minutes.
  3. The Your Rank tab includes Xbox and PlayStation players even without cross-play, and shows brackets instead of names. Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 have separate leaderboards.
  4. Rewards arrive shortly after the weekly competition ends, based on your Battle Points and final Rank.

Expected result: the Rank change is explained; rewards are expected after the competition ends.

If a reward is still missing after that, check the Store (unclaimed items, My Packs) using EA's guide How to find missing EA SPORTS FC Items and Packs.

Good to know

  • The number of Battle Points depends on winning or losing and the difficulty you choose.
  • At the start of each competition or after an Opponent Update, the game picks one Easy, one Medium and one Hard Squad, then a fourth from Easy or Medium.
  • Opponents are real Squads from other Ultimate Team™ players, from any platform, controlled by the AI.
  • PvE Live Events work differently: their rewards come through Objectives, without waiting for a weekly competition to end.

Final check

  • ☐ You still had weekly competition matches at the time of the match.
  • ☐ The match was played to the end, with no refresh skipping it.
  • ☐ In Co-Op, both players had weekly matches left.
  • ☐ Rewards are expected after the weekly competition ends.
