Amp disabled or incomplete boost in EA SPORTS FC 27: causes and solutions

English translation of the original French post. Code, commands, paths and error codes keep their original meaning. Replies and moderation are shared in the original discussion.

You equipped an Amp on your Pro in The Grounds in EA SPORTS FC 27, but it shows as "disabled", its Attribute boost looks weaker than expected, the Affinity bonus doesn't apply, or its uses went down without you benefiting from it. In most cases this isn't a bug: EA Help describes several rules that explain these situations. This guide checks them in order.

Problem

  • Your Archetype card shows your equipped Amp as disabled.
  • The Attribute boost in the match is lower than the one shown on the Amp.
  • The Archetype Affinity bonus doesn't apply.
  • The number of remaining uses went down although you left the match or the boost was incomplete.
  • A consumable you had active disappeared after you equipped another one.

What to know first

According to EA Help on Amps:

PointRule stated by EA
Tiers4 tiers: Tier 1 and 2 give Attribute boosts; Tier 3 and 4 are Signature Amps (two Attributes, a PlayStyle or PlayStyle+, a Perk, an Affinity bonus depending on the Amp)
Slots1 Signature Amp slot and 2 Standard Amp slots
TargetThe Amp applies to your active Archetype
AffinityThe Affinity bonus only applies to the matching Archetype
CapAn Attribute can't go above its maximum, even with an Amp
UsesFinishing an eligible match consumes one use; an intentional disconnect does too
RestrictionsAmps don't apply in some activities, including Kickabouts

Step 1: Amp "disabled"

When to use it: the Archetype card or the information panel shows the Amp as disabled.

Suggested solution

  1. Check which activity you're in. According to EA, Amps don't apply in some activities, including Kickabouts.
  2. In that case, your Archetype card shows the Amp as disabled, and the information panel at the gameplay location may say so too.
  3. Good news: a Kickabout doesn't consume any of the Amp's uses.
  4. Play a match in an eligible activity and check that the "disabled" label goes away.

Expected result: the Amp is active again outside non-eligible activities.

If the Kickabout itself won't start, see Kickabout not starting in The Grounds in EA SPORTS FC 27: causes.

Step 2: incomplete Attribute boost

When to use it: the Amp is active, but the Attribute gain is lower than advertised.

Suggested solution

  1. Look at the current value of the boosted Attribute on your Archetype.
  2. If it's close to its maximum, EA Help states that only part of the boost applies: the Attribute can't go above its cap.
  3. When equipping the Amp, an on-screen warning tells you that part of the boost won't apply. Read it before confirming.
  4. Careful: even with a partial boost, the Amp still uses its match durability.
  5. If the boost is reduced, consider an Amp that boosts other Attributes, further from their cap.

Expected result: you understand the boost gap and pick an Amp that's actually useful for your build.

Step 3: Affinity bonus missing

When to use it: the standard benefits apply, but not the Affinity bonus.

Suggested solution

  1. Open the Archetypes menu > Amps tab and read the Amp's Affinity.
  2. Compare it with your active Archetype. Example given by EA: an Amp with Magician Affinity might give the Magician Archetype an extra Sprint Speed boost.
  3. If the active Archetype doesn't match, you keep the standard benefits, without the Affinity bonus.
  4. To get it, switch Archetype before the match (in Clubs League matches you must be on the bench: Player Management tab > Archetypes).

Expected result: the Affinity bonus applies once the matching Archetype is active.

Changing Archetype is free: Changing Archetype in EA SPORTS FC 27: reset your Attributes without paying.

Step 4: uses consumed "for nothing"

When to use it: the use counter went down although you think you didn't benefit from it.

Suggested solution

  1. According to EA, each finished eligible match consumes one use.
  2. Intentionally disconnecting from an eligible match also consumes one use.
  3. A partial boost (step 2) also consumes a use.
  4. To save an Amp for later, unequip it: Archetypes menu > Amps tab > the Amp's slot > option to unequip. It returns to your inventory with its remaining match uses.

Expected result: you keep your uses for the matches where the Amp really helps.

Step 5: an active consumable disappeared

When to use it: after equipping a new item, a previous consumable is no longer active.

Suggested solution

  1. EA Help states that equipping some consumables replaces the one already active. Example given: equipping a Party AXP Multiplier while another consumable is active.
  2. In that case, any remaining matches or boosts on the replaced consumable are lost.
  3. Before equipping a new consumable, check what's already equipped and how many matches it has left.

Expected result: you avoid losing a consumable in progress. This replacement isn't a bug: only report it as one if the lost item wasn't covered by this rule.

If the Amp is missing or couldn't be bought

Final check

  • ☐ The current activity accepts Amps (not a Kickabout).
  • ☐ The boosted Attribute wasn't already close to its maximum.
  • ☐ The Amp's Affinity matches your active Archetype.
  • ☐ You unequip the Amp when you don't want to consume a use.
  • ☐ You check active consumables before equipping a new one.
